Position: Go Technical SME
Location: San Jose, CA
The Go Technical SME is the ultimate technical escalation point and hands-on "Strike Team" lead for the Go language pod. This is a heavy Backend Coding and Refactoring role responsible for resolving strict compilation blocks, module version lockups, and breaking API changes across large-scale Go microservices. The SME steps in to untangle complex module graphs and architectural anti-patterns during high-velocity library updates.
Core Responsibilities
Hands-On Hardcore Refactoring: Overhaul concurrent backend logic, interface implementations, and type definitions to satisfy strict Go compiler rules during major dependency upgrades.
Resolving Dependency Conflicts: Deeply analyze go.mod file structures and indirect dependency chains to resolve version deadlocks and unwanted transitive upgrades.
Custom Patching Management: Lead the debugging, alignment, and trimming of local module patches against modern upstream releases.
Architectural Conversions: Execute multi-version layout conversions (go/versionedlayout) and restructure package visibility boundaries safely.
Concurrency & Performance Audits: Review refactored code paths for potential race conditions, memory leaks, and performance regressions introduced during library bumps.
Mandatory Backend Coding & Refactoring Skills
Backend Coding (Go): Advanced refactoring, concurrency primitives (channels/goroutines), and interface design.
Package Arch/Dependencies: Untangling Go module graphs, semantic versioning rules, and go.mod overrides.
Advanced Tooling Pipeline: Hands-on scripting, custom AST rewriting tools, and automated codemods.
Build Systems (Blaze/Bazel/Go Modules): Deep understanding of strict compilation, linking, and internal package visibility.
Cgo & Native Interop: Managing Cgo boundaries and bridging Go code with native libraries safely
