Description:
UX Designer (Level III) - Contract

Contract Duration: Approximately 3+ months

Role Overview

As a User Experience (UX) Designer (Level III), you will take full ownership of outcomes for a mature product, a complex program, or an emerging initiative. This role requires navigating ambiguity, defining scalable and sustainable design approaches, and solving complex problems where precedent may be limited.

You will contribute by shaping and advocating for long-term user experience and product strategy, influencing adjacent design efforts, and challenging existing perspectives in alignment with shared objectives. As a senior-level individual contributor, you will act as a subject-matter expert in UX design principles, user-centered development methodologies, design systems, and research practices.

Collaboration is central to this role-you will work closely with engineering, product, research, and stakeholder partners to analyze user needs, resolve constraints, mitigate risks, and deliver thoughtful, high-impact design solutions that consider both business goals and potential unintended harm.
Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with engineering teams to clearly communicate, negotiate, and influence design intent; guide implementation-ready design specifications such as mock-ups, flows, and product models.
  • Leverage and propose meaningful data, metrics, and insights to evaluate product impact, understand user behavior, and assess the broader product ecosystem and competitive landscape.
  • Drive continuous design improvement using UX testing results, stakeholder feedback, and iterative validation.
  • Build alignment and consensus across cross-functional teams; clearly articulate design strategy, rationale, and trade-offs to designers, product managers, and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to defining project priorities aligned with broader program goals; coordinate resources and proactively expand scope and ownership within the product area.
  • Deliver design solutions informed by user insights, business objectives, and industry trends to support key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Anticipate evolving technical and organizational constraints; clearly communicate design decisions and their long-term implications.
  • Lead or support the implementation of holistic design processes, design systems, or shared design languages across teams or products.
  • Guide other UX designers in ideation, concept development, and research activities, or independently conduct research to inform design direction.
  • Apply, adapt, and help define UX frameworks, patterns, and systems; use writing, design, and prototyping tools to visualize ideas and advance product vision.
  • Ensure adherence to established templates, style guides, accessibility standards, and best practices.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve user experience by anticipating needs, collaborating across functions, and resolving strategic, product, or technical constraints.
Required Qualifications
  • Strong proficiency in:
    • Data analysis, synthesis, and planning
    • Product design principles and practices
    • Interactive technologies
    • UX research methodologies
    • Product development life cycle
    • Visual and aesthetic design sensibility
    • User behavior and psychology
    • Presentation and storytelling
    • Systems thinking
    • Craftsmanship and attention to detail
Minimum Experience Requirements
  • 6+ years of motion design experience within product design, UX, or UI animation contexts.
  • A portfolio, personal website, or equivalent work samples must be included with the resume (with accessible links or instructions).
Nice to Have
  • Experience using Generative AI tools for prototyping, design exploration, or user research.
