Position: Engineering Technician
Contract Duration: 8 months
Location: Cupertino, CA (onsite)
Pay Range: $80 to $88/hr on w2

 
Job Description: -
Summary:
We are seeking a Customer Service Technician responsible for test equipment setup, tear down, maintenance, data collection, and logistics. The technician ensures engineering service requests operate reliably and meet end-use customer requirements. Experience working directly with customers and managing interactions is essential.

  • Strong troubleshooting abilities with critical thinking, attention to detail, and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask, manage time, prioritize tasks, and work unsupervised
  • Understanding of basic electronics; familiarity with lab equipment (Oscilloscopes, DMM, signal generator, signal analyzer) is helpful
  • Basic understanding of MS Office, PDFs, schematics, BOMs, and documentation

Responsibilities:
  • Set up, tear down, maintain, and manage test boards and test equipment
  • Maintain lab standards to ensure a safe, clean, and organized environment
  • Deploy automated test boards and troubleshoot setup issues
  • Remove and redeploy test board setups based on updated engineer requests
  • Collect and track data for critical lab metrics
  • Perform test equipment inventory, calibration, and routine maintenance
  • Configure electro-mechanical component installations using BOMs, drawings, and schematics
  • Perform electro-mechanical repair, wiring troubleshooting, and testing of semi-complex assemblies
  • Recommend documentation improvements related to wiring and mechanical build
  • Perform self-inspection in accordance with internal and manufacturing procedures
  • Identify, document, and escalate issues to supervisors
  • Check equipment for calibration status, expired materials, and follow ESD/general housekeeping procedures
  • Read and follow written instructions, schematics, and diagrams accurately
  • Communicate clearly in English (reading, writing, verbal)

Requirements:
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in a technical field OR 4+ years of equivalent experience in a lab, customer service in a data center, or field service environment
  • Ability to read schematics and set up various cable connectivity types to test equipment and DUT (Device Under Test) is a plus
  • Basic user-level knowledge of Unix/Windows and networking with enterprise switches/routers is a plus
  • Ability to solder and rework PCBA components (SMT, through-hole, wires, terminals, fine-pitch parts)
  • General test instrumentation hardware and software knowledge is a plus
  • Experience operating and supporting environmental chambers
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs for bench setups
