Position OverviewTEKsystems is seeking an experienced
Service Technician to perform both routine and emergency service calls for commercial security systems. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing malfunctioning equipment while providing exceptional customer support. The ideal candidate is highly skilled, works independently, and is capable of training and coaching less senior technicians or trainees.
Key ResponsibilitiesService & Technical Work- Perform routine and emergency service calls.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and replace malfunctioning or inoperative equipment.
- Conduct system testing, signal verification, and equipment functionality checks.
- Maintain adequate truck stock, tools, and inventory for scheduled and unscheduled tasks.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and technical documentation.
Customer Support & Communication- Deliver reliable, high-quality customer service on every call.
- Provide customer training on system operation and functionality.
- Document all service activities, time worked, productivity data, and additional required reporting.
Team Support & Leadership- Proctor, coach, and train junior technicians or trainees.
- Organize technical resources to ensure efficient completion of all assigned tasks.
- Ensure timely completion and follow-through on all work assignments and projects.
Other Duties- Complete additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications- High School Diploma or Vocational Training required.
- 3+ years of security systems experience.
- Mastery-level troubleshooting skills for:
- Commercial intrusion systems
- Fire alarm systems
- CCTV systems
- Intercom systems
- Access control systems
- Strong understanding of local and national building/security codes.
- Mastery of test equipment (e.g., multimeters, battery analyzers, decibel meters).
- Valid driver's license and ability to pass a drug screening.
- Ability to read technical diagrams, schematics, policies, and procedures in English.
Physical Requirements- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, twist, climb, kneel, crouch, crawl, push, pull, talk, and hear.
- Must use vision abilities: close, distance, peripheral, color, and depth perception.
- Ability to work in challenging environments: ladders, scaffolding, lifts, crawl spaces, attics, and above-ceiling spaces.
- Lift, move, and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work a flexible full-time schedule with on-call availability.
- Ability to travel on short notice.
- Ability to drive for extended periods (day or night).
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Nashville, TN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.
