Onsite JAVA/J2EE Technical Lead/ Team Lead Application Management Services (AMS)

We are seeking an experienced Onsite JAVA/J2EE Technical Lead / Team Lead to lead Application Management Services (AMS) for a Property & Casualty
(P&C) Insurance environment. The role is responsible for providing technical, operational, and delivery leadership across production support, application maintenance, defect resolution, enhancements, releases, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring application stability, availability, performance, security, and adherence to agreed SLAs.
The Technical Lead will serve as the key liaison between client stakeholders and onsite/offshore delivery teams. The role will lead day-to-day L2/L3 support operations, prioritize work, coordinate incident and problem resolution, oversee application enhancements and releases, perform technical and code reviews, mentor team members, and ensure high-quality delivery.The ideal candidate will have strong Java/J2EE enterprise application development and production support experience, P&C insurance domain knowledge, application server expertise, and demonstrated experience leading technical teams in Agile and onsite-offshore delivery environments. The candidate should also have experience adopting AI-assisted software engineering tools and practices to improve development productivity, code quality, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and application maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

* Serve as the Onsite Technical Lead and primary technical point of contact for Application Management Services (AMS), providing technical and delivery leadership across onsite and offshore teams.
* Lead Java/J2EE application development, maintenance, enhancements, integrations, and modernization , ensuring solutions follow architecture, security, coding, and engineering best practices.
* Lead and coordinate L2/L3 production support, ensuring timely resolution of incidents, service requests, defects, and production issues in accordance with agreed SLAs.* Lead troubleshooting of complex production issues, perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA), drive Major Incident resolution, and implement preventive measures to improve application stability and reliability.
* Provide technical leadership for applications running on JBoss/WildFly, Apache Tomcat, and similar Java/J2EE application servers, including deployment, configuration, performance troubleshooting, and JVM-related issues.
* Oversee the complete development lifecycle including technical design, development, code reviews, testing, deployment, and production support , ensuring adherence to development and quality standards.
* Lead and support enterprise integrations using REST APIs, SOAP Web Services, middleware, JSON/XML, and related integration technologies.
* Manage end-to-end application releases across Development, QA, UAT, and Production environments, coordinating with development, QA, infrastructure, DevOps, release management, and business teams.
* Provide technical leadership, mentoring, work prioritization, and guidance to onsite and offshore development/support teams while driving knowledge sharing and cross-training.
* Act as the key liaison with business stakeholders, product owners, architects, QA, infrastructure, DevOps, and delivery leadership , providing clear communication on delivery status, risks, incidents, releases, and priorities.
* Drive the responsible adoption of AI-assisted development tools and Generative AI across Java/J2EE development for code generation, code review, refactoring, unit testing, debugging, documentation, and developer productivity while adhering to enterprise security and AI governance policies.
* Drive continuous improvement and automation across application development and production support to improve system reliability, engineering quality, support efficiency, and overall delivery productivity.
* Quickly learn and develop hands-on expertise in the OneShield Policy Administration System (PAS) to support production issues, application enhancements, integrations, and ongoing development activities.

## Required Qualifications
* 8+ years of experience in software development, application support, or Application Management Services (AMS), with proven experience as a Technical Lead / Team Lead .
* Strong hands-on experience in Java/J2EE enterprise application development , including Core Java, Spring/Spring Boot, REST/SOAP APIs, JPA/Hibernate, JDBC, and Microservices.* Experience supporting and troubleshooting Java/J2EE applications on JBoss/WildFly, Apache Tomcat , or similar application servers, including deployments, JVM and performance troubleshooting.
* Experience with modern development tools and practices including IntelliJ IDEA/Eclipse, Git, Maven/Gradle, Azure DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and code quality tools .
* Strong experience with Oracle and/or SQL Server , including SQL development, troubleshooting, data analysis, and performance tuning.
* Proven experience leading L2/L3 production support, application maintenance, enhancements, incident/problem management, RCA, and end-to-end release management across Development, QA, UAT, and Production environments.
* Experience with AI-assisted development tools and Generative AI to improve coding, code reviews, testing, debugging, documentation, and developer productivity, with an understanding of secure and responsible AI usage.
* Strong understanding of Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance business processes and policy lifecycle, including New Business, Renewals, Endorsements, Rewrites, and Cancellations.
* Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor onsite/offshore technical teams , manage priorities and delivery commitments, conduct technical/code reviews, and drive engineering best practices.
* Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills , with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.

# Preferred Qualifications

* Experience leading onsite-offshore delivery models for AMS engagements , preferably supporting large-scale enterprise insurance applications.
* Experience with application upgrades, modernization, performance optimization, Azure cloud services, and DevOps automation .
* Strong understanding of AMS operational processes , including SLA/KPI management, production monitoring, Major Incident Management, release governance, and continuous improvement.* Experience driving AI-assisted development and automation within Java/J2EE teams using enterprise-approved AI tools to improve development, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and support productivity.
* Experience working directly with business users, product owners, senior client stakeholders, architects, and cross-functional technology teams .
* Relevant ITIL, Agile, Cloud, Insurance Domain, Java, or other technical certifications are a plus.
