Who You Are:
You are a hands-on WiFi and EPON Network Engineer with experience supporting carrier-grade broadband networks, CPE, and modern WiFi technologies. You excel at troubleshooting complex WiFi, EPON, and gateway issues in lab and field environments, and are comfortable configuring routers, switches, firmware, and security settings. You communicate clearly, document your work effectively, collaborate well across teams, and are driven to deliver reliable, high-quality network solutions in a fast-paced consulting environment.
As a Consultant, you’ll contribute to client engagements by delivering insights, building deliverables, and leading workstreams. You’ll be expected to bring strong analytical thinking, and a proactive mindset to solve client problems and drive transformation.
Role and Responsibilities:
You may work on various projects throughout your career with Excelacom. The roles and responsibilities noted below pertain to the specific role listed above.
- Troubleshoots and resolves escalated WiFi and CPE device field issues.
- Performs assessments on existing technologies to determine performance and capacity gaps.
- Establishes security, connectivity and access parameters.
- Provides recommendations to optimize network infrastructure.
- Tests and tunes security devices and systems.
- Programs routers and switches. Implements communications technologies (data or voice).
- Manages network services from planning phase through implementation.
- Work closely with clients to identify process improvements
- Analyze business challenges and recommend technology-driven solutions
- Support system development, integration, and testing activities
- Develop presentations, deliverables, and implementation plans
- Assist with proposals and business development efforts
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or related field
- Prior consulting experience – in an agile environment – with a leading strategy firm, consulting practice, or consulting technology firm
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
- 2+ years of experience in WiFi Network Engineering
- 2+ years of experience in EPON Network Engineering
- Installation of firmware and firmware CPE testing & troubleshooting
- Solid knowledge of routing protocols, network hardware and software, security technologies and network infrastructure is required.
- Advanced knowledge of WiFi 6, WiFi 7 EPON gateways
- Working knowledge of WiFi CPE including:
- Residential Gateway (carrier-grade) ONU / ONT (Optical Network Unit / Terminal)
- Enterprise ONU, multi-port, VLAN, SLA QoS
- Outdoor ONU
- Ability to write technical documentation & perform in a professional test lab collaborative environment
- Ability to write and follow detailed technical test plans
- Strong math, written and verbal communication skills with an analytical approach
- Ability to interact cross-functionally with various levels management and peers
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team-based environment
- Strong triage & incident/defect troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of Jira.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a test laboratory environment supporting network test & field issue recreation and test
- CPE background in trouble shooting is highly desirable
- Creative Network Trouble Shooting Skills.
- Prior experience in Telecommunications, Media, or Cable is highly preferred
- Past success in generating new business with existing clients
- Good time management and collaboration skills
Compensation and Benefits:
Excelacom offers competitive salaries, health and wellness benefits, 401(k), paid time off, and career growth opportunities. For regular full-time employees, the estimated salary range is from $80,000 to $$110,000.
