Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack) — End‑of‑Life Migration (Internal Build)Overview
We’re migrating an end‑of‑life third‑party application to an internally built solution on a newer tech stack. This role is for a Senior Full‑Stack Engineer who can take ownership of delivery while requirements are being finalized and work closely with stakeholders and QA/SDET.
What you’ll do
Lead design and implementation of features as we replace the end‑of‑life application with an internal system.
Build and maintain front‑end heavy functionality using React, ensuring a strong user experience and maintainable architecture.
Develop and integrate backend services (mix of Node and Java, with a growing set of Python web services).
Work with rules / BRMS-style logic and ensure correct behavior across workflows.
Partner with QA/SDET to define acceptance criteria and support robust automated testing.
Collaborate across engineering and operations on basic DevOps needs (service accounts, job execution, data flow between systems).
Use AI tools effectively to accelerate engineering work (e.g., analysis, refactoring support, test generation, code review assistance) — beyond simple prompting.
Required qualifications
Senior-level experience delivering full‑stack web applications in production.
Strong React experience (this role is expected to be front‑end heavy).
Backend experience with Node.js and/or Java; willingness to work across both.
Experience building or consuming Python web services (or strong willingness to ramp quickly).
Working knowledge of SQL / relational concepts (deep SQL Server expertise not required).
Familiarity with rule engines / decisioning or BRMS-like patterns (e.g., business rules executed against datasets).
Solid grasp of practical DevOps basics (service accounts, how scheduled/batch jobs run, and end‑to‑end data flow).
Demonstrated AI fluency in prior roles: can apply AI tools to real engineering tasks and understands limitations, verification, and safe usage.
Strong communication skills; able to operate with partial requirements and drive clarity.
Preferred qualifications
Exposure to Hadoop ecosystems and how applications integrate with Hadoop-backed data pipelines.
Experience modernizing / migrating legacy or end‑of‑life systems.
Mentoring experience and ability to raise the bar for code quality and delivery.
Candidate assessment is expected to focus on 4 skills: Java, React, Drools (weighted equally) plus Hadoop (~10–15%). AI skills will be evaluated via interviews/screening.
