Senior Java Spring Boot Microservices & Azure DevOps Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Engineer with strong expertise in Spring Boot, Spring MVC, RESTful microservices, Azure, CI/CD, and Kubernetes to design, develop, secure, and deploy enterprise-grade applications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with modern Java development, cloud-native architectures, DevOps automation, secure encryption practices, and containerized application deployments.

This role will work closely with Architecture, Security, DevOps, and Platform Engineering teams to deliver scalable, reliable, secure, and maintainable enterprise applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and maintain Java-based enterprise applications using Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and MVC architecture.
• Develop and maintain scalable RESTful microservices following modern software engineering and cloud-native development practices.
• Implement secure data protection and encryption capabilities using approved methodologies, including FIPS-compliant cryptography and AES-GCM encryption.
• Build and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines for Java applications to support compilation, automated testing, packaging, security scanning, and deployment.
• Implement pipeline-as-code using YAML-based pipeline definitions to improve repeatability, version control, and collaboration.
• Containerize Java applications using Docker and deploy microservices into Kubernetes/AKS environments.
• Configure, monitor, troubleshoot, and support Kubernetes-based application deployments across development, testing, and production-like environments.
• Integrate automated code quality, security, dependency, and vulnerability scanning into CI/CD workflows.
• Participate in code reviews and promote clean coding practices, meaningful commits, small pull requests, and traceability to work items.
• Troubleshoot application, deployment, integration, and runtime issues and identify root causes.
• Collaborate with Architecture, Security, DevOps, Platform, QA, and other technical teams to ensure applications meet enterprise standards.
• Support automated testing, release management, deployment governance, and continuous improvement of delivery processes.
• Follow secure software supply-chain practices, dependency management standards, and vulnerability remediation processes.
• Contribute to technical documentation, operational procedures, and engineering best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Java development in enterprise environments.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot and Spring MVC.
• Solid understanding of MVC design patterns, web application architecture, and REST APIs.
• Proven experience developing and deploying RESTful microservices.
• Working knowledge of data encryption, FIPS standards, AES-GCM, and secure coding practices.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for Java applications.
• Strong understanding of pipeline-as-code and YAML-based pipeline configuration.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience deploying and supporting applications in Kubernetes environments, preferably Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
• Understanding of DevOps practices, automated testing, release automation, and deployment governance.
• Experience with Git-based source control and pull request workflows using Azure DevOps, GitHub, or similar platforms.
• Experience troubleshooting applications across development, testing, and production-like environments.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across multiple technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Kubernetes manifests, Helm, and container orchestration.
• Experience deploying applications to AKS or other managed Kubernetes platforms.
• Familiarity with GitOps deployment models, particularly Argo CD.
• Experience integrating security and vulnerability scanning into CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with SonarQube, JFrog/Xray, SAST, DAST, or similar security and code-quality platforms.
• Experience with cloud-native application development and enterprise platform standards.
• Knowledge of secure software supply-chain practices and dependency vulnerability remediation.
• Experience with Azure DevOps YAML pipelines and enterprise release automation.
• Familiarity with observability, application monitoring, logging, and Kubernetes troubleshooting.
