Role and Responsibilities

We are seeking a visionary and technically proficient Director of Engineering Excellence to lead our efforts in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Incident Management, Developer Productivity, Tooling, and Observability. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of our engineering operations, ensuring scalability, reliability, and efficiency across our platforms. The Director of Engineering Excellence will be responsible for establishing and driving best practices in engineering operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, strategic vision, and the ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and leadership.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement SRE strategies to ensure system reliability, scalability, and performance through analyzing of operational data.
  • Implement cost-effective solutions without compromising quality or performance.
  • Utilize an incident management platform to analyze and find incident hot spots and work alongside technical leaders to remediate
  • Enhance developer productivity by identifying and implementing efficient tools and workflows.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in engineering practices.
  • Set a business vision and strategy for reliability and productivity within the engineering excellence organization
  • Communicate effectively with senior leadership, providing insights and recommendations.
  • Work with finance and engineering teams to develop a framework to track and manage budgets related to Engineering initiatives.
  • Develop and communicate a clear vision for SRE and DevOps, aligning it with business objectives.
  • Establish Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs) to measure system performance and reliability.
  • Drive the adoption of DevOps principles and practices, promoting automation and collaboration between development and operations teams.

Skills and Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering operations, with a focus on DevOps & SRE.
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and driving strategic initiatives.
  • Strong technical expertise in SRE practices, automation, and observability tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas to diverse audiences.
  • Leadership experience with a focus on building and executing strategic roadmaps.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth technology environment.
  • Experience leading global teams and managing managers
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience in incident management platforms (e.g., PagerDuty, Opsgenie).

The salary range for this role will vary among specific regions due to geographic differentials in the labor market, and actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, and comparison to other employees in the role. However, the salary ranges in the following regions are expected to be as follows: $230,000 to $265,000
