Job Description SummaryThe Building Engineer is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of a two building, 325,000 sq ft corporate campus. This role requires a strong technical background in electrical systems, including interpreting one line diagrams, maintaining critical power equipment, and ensuring reliable facility operations.
Job Description- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot building systems including HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, life-safety, and general building infrastructure.
- Read, interpret, and update electrical one-line diagrams and equipment documentation.
- Perform maintenance and testing on UPS systems, ATS switches, generators, and associated critical power equipment.
- Conduct circuit tracing, load identification, and electrical system diagnostics.
- Perform routine and preventative electrical maintenance, including panel inspections, relay testing, breaker operation checks, and equipment cleaning.
- Respond to building service requests, alarms, and equipment failures; coordinate repairs as needed.
- Support contractors during on-site work, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, logs, and equipment performance.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, electrical codes, and company standards.
Qualifications:- 5+ years experience in building engineering or facility maintenance, preferably in a multi-building or campus environment.
- Strong electrical background with hands-on experience in commercial power systems.
- Working knowledge of UPS, ATS, generator operation, and electrical distribution equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and one-line diagrams.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Certifications:- Journeyman
- EPA Universal Certification
- NICET Certification (Fire Alarm or Electrical Power Testing)
- OSHA 30-Hour or OSHA 10-Hour Safety Certification
- NFPA 70E Electrical Safety Training
- BOMA SMA/SMT (Systems Maintenance Administrator/Technician)
- Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT)
- Generator/ATS manufacturer-specific training (e.g., Cummins, Caterpillar, ASCO, Eaton)
