Senior ETL QA Automation Engineer (SSIS & Snowflake)

Position: ETL QA

Location: Chicago, IL, OR Remote

Duration: 12+ Months (Contract)

Job Summary:
Responsibilities will include functional testing, load testing, usability testing, continuous integration and code reviews.

• ETL Automation: Proven ability to design, implement, and maintain automated ETL pipelines, ensuring data quality, consistency, and performance.
• SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services): Advanced knowledge of developing, scheduling, and troubleshooting SSIS packages for data extraction, transformation, and loading from diverse data sources.
• Snowflake: Experience in automating data workflows within Snowflake, including scripting, task management, and Snowpipe configurations for real-time or near real-time ingestion.
• Scripting & Orchestration: Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, SQL) for task automation and integration, as well as experience with orchestration tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Airflow).
• Monitoring & Error Handling: Ability to implement robust logging, error handling, and alerting mechanisms to ensure high availability and reliability of ETL workflows.
• Performance Optimization: Skilled in optimizing ETL processes for large datasets, including parallel processing, indexing strategies, and minimizing data movement.
• Version Control & CI/CD: Familiarity with using version control systems (e.g., Git) and integrating ETL processes into CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Reviewing requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
• Participate and contribute extensively to requirements analysis, design, QA test plan development, defect review, QA results analysis, sprint review, project planning sessions.
• Estimating, prioritizing, planning and coordinating testing activities
• Develop, document and maintain functional test cases and other test artifacts like test data, data validation and automated scripts
• Execute and evaluate automated test cases and report test results
• Perform risk assessments and business requirements validation
• Investigate bugs and write clear and concise defect reports
• Monitor, triage, and drive resolution of issues

Qualifications:

• Technical Degree or related work experience.
• Experience with Automation Engineer (i.e. Selenium with Java or similar).
• Experience in building and maintaining automated test frameworks (i.e. Java, Perl, ect).
• Hands on experience Load/Integration testing/Security testing/Server-side testing.
• Relational Database Development (MySQL, Microsoft SQL, Oracle, etc.).
• Experience with Git version control and CI/CD tools.
• Experience with agile development.
