Job Summary

We are looking for a solid Java Backend Engineer who knows how to build and run systems the right way—clean code, scalable architecture, and production-ready services. The role demands hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and AWS, along with strong exposure to distributed systems and microservices.

If someone only knows theory or basic CRUD apps, this is not the role. We need engineers who’ve worked in real production environments.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot
Build and manage microservices-based architectures
Develop and consume RESTful APIs
Work with AWS services, especially ECS and EMR
Implement event-driven systems using Kafka
Handle large-scale data using NoSQL databases (Cassandra preferred)
Deploy and manage applications using Kubernetes
Ensure system performance, reliability, and scalability
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (DevOps, QA, Product)

Required Skills

Strong hands-on experience with Java (8+) and Spring Boot
Solid experience with AWS (ECS, EMR required)
Experience with Kafka and event-driven architecture
Working knowledge of NoSQL databases (Cassandra or similar)
Strong understanding of REST APIs and Microservices
Hands-on experience with Kubernetes
Good understanding of distributed systems and backend design patterns

Nice to Have

Experience with monitoring/logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.)
Exposure to Apache Spark

Additional Notes

Local candidates only (Plano, TX or nearby)
Must be comfortable working on W2
Strong communication and ownership mindset expected
