Serves as the Internet Protocol Telephony Engineering Specialist responsible for Research Development Design Procurement Implementation Maintenance and Troubleshooting of NEXCOM s corporate Voice Over IP VoIP telecommunications system and call center functionality.
Serves a key function and is responsible for NEXCOM's VoIP local and wide area networks. Also responsible for leading integration teams on VoIP network related projects directed by the command.
Responsible for research & development of new VoIP, local area and wide area network technologies. Responsible for network design and testing new products to determine the most advantageous means of implementing and integrating the equipment with current WAN and LAN, including routers, switches, VoIP Servers/Hardware, modems, etc.
Responsible for implementation and support of Call Center VoIP functionality including minor script changes.
Responsible for the testing & implementation of all VoIP network hardware, software, and VoIP systems.
Responsible for design, certification, procurement, configuration, troubleshooting, modification, and maintenance of all VoIP and network hardware.
Serve as co lead on VoIP and network related projects identified by the command.
Develops, updates, and maintains VoIP, network documentation, and technical drawings.
Responsible for implementation, troubleshooting, support, and cross code communications relating to VoIP Servers as required.
Responsible for troubleshooting and resolving network and user problems in a timely manner as required. Provide Level 3 VoIP support at an enterprise level.
Maintains the security and integrity of all VoIP and network related hardware and software, which includes but not limited to: STIGs/PCI regulation, and IS/IA controls.
Provides oral and written reports to all levels of the Code I management chain.
Participates in a 24 hour/7 day Headquarters Network On Call rotation for VoIP and overall network support.
Responsible for installation, configuration, troubleshooting and modification of network, VoIP, and telecommunications hardware/software.
Assists in the preparation of the department VoIP expense budget and project budgets. Projects annual VoIP expenses based on current commitments and expected orders.
Assists in tracking all network hardware inventories, installed and spare.
Assist with managing vendor relationships. Provides interface to service providers.
Performs capacity planning, optimization, and analysis for new and currently installed data and voice networks.
Ensure/implement the rigorous application of Information Security/Information Assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of Systems, Applications and/or Services (Hardware & Software).
Perform other related duties as assigned.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: 3 years experience in administrative, technical work which demonstrated the ability and aptitudes required to perform technical, managerial or analytical work and coordination involving management information systems.
OR
SUBSTITUTION OF EXPERIENCE FOR EDUCATION: One year of related academic study above the high school level may be substituted for 9 months of experience up to a maximum of a 4 year bachelor's degree for 3 years general experience.
AND
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: a total of 4 years in at least 3 of the items below:
Experience in a Cisco Enterprise Class network with duties that include the full spectrum of Cisco Network Infrastructure Software (IOS)
Experience with VoIP (Voice over IP) technology and products, with working knowledge of Cisco VOIP products
Experience with Windows Server Operating System updates, backups and configurations.
Experience in supporting a multi site, enterprise environment in a diverse, world wide geographic area.
SECNAV M 5239.2 DoN, Information Assurance (IA) Workforce Manual requires that all incumbents of this position possess, and maintain current, two types of certifications as follows:
IA Certification: One of the following certifications: Security , GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC), Security Certified Network Professional (SCNP), Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP); or any one of the following higher level certifications: Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), GIAC Security Expert (GSE), Security Certified Network Architect (SCNA).
NEXCOM preferred certification is Security
Technical Certification: Cisco Certified Network Associate (Voice). Certification must be valid (not expired) as defined by the policy of the certification issuer.
Candidates without the required certification may be placed into this job, but must obtain the required certification within 6 months of appointment; failure to obtain the proper certification will result in termination of employment.
This position is designated IT 2 (Non critical Sensitive) in accordance with SECNAV M 5510.30 and will require a favorable Access National Agency Check and Inquiries (ANACI).
