Job Summary:

We are seeking a Lead Commissioning Supervisor / Solar Field Commissioning Manager with 15+ years of experience in utility-scale solar PV projects. This role will act as the Owner s representative, overseeing EPC contractors and OEMs through installation, commissioning, testing, and project closeout. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in PV systems, SCADA, substations, and performance testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee installation, commissioning, startup, and performance testing of solar PV systems.
  • Act as Owner s representative managing EPC contractors, OEMs, and third-party vendors.
  • Manage construction turnover, pre-energization, commissioning, and testing activities.
  • Conduct system walkdowns, quality inspections, and maintain punch lists.
  • Develop and manage energization and performance testing plans.
  • Oversee substation testing, energization, and metering validation.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO, GIA, and PPA testing requirements.
  • Troubleshoot commissioning issues and provide SME-level technical support.
  • Review PPA and Interconnection Agreements to align testing requirements.
  • Prepare and review project closeout documentation and reports.
  • Provide daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports to leadership.
  • Lead coordination meetings and ensure stakeholder alignment during testing phases.

Required Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in solar PV commissioning and project execution
  • Experience with utility-scale solar projects (50MW+)
  • Strong understanding of PV systems, substations, and plant controls
  • Proven experience managing EPC contractors and vendors
  • Ability to travel up to 75% and work on-site at project locations

Required Skills:

  • Solar PV installation and commissioning (modules, DC systems, inverters)
  • DC (0 2000Vdc) and AC systems (480V 34.5kV)
  • SCADA systems and plant controls (PPC, data historian)
  • Protection & Controls systems
  • Substation testing and startup
  • PLC troubleshooting and industrial electronic equipment
  • Balance of Plant (BOP) components (combiner boxes, transformers, MV collection)
  • Quality control inspections and punch-list management
  • Commissioning process development

  • Tools: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Electrical Engineering background or equivalent field experience
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience in ISO/GIA/PPA testing and compliance

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work on construction sites with varying terrain and weather conditions
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, and lift up to 20 lbs
  • Must be able to distinguish color-coded wiring
  • Ability to travel extensively and operate a vehicle between job sites
