Role Summary
Ascend is seeking a hands-on SAP SD / LE Specialist to support and enhance our ECC Sales & Distribution and Logistics Execution processes.
This role is ideal for a senior functional consultant who is comfortable working directly in configuration (SPRO), troubleshooting production issues, and leading small-to-medium enhancements from requirements through deployment.
This is not a pure architecture or transformation role. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable:
- Working in configuration
- Troubleshooting complex production issues
- Designing scalable solutions
- Coordinating with business and technical teams
- Owning end-to-end delivery
12-Month Targeted Outcomes
Within the first year, this individual will:
- Establish trusted partnerships with Supply Chain, Logistics, and Commercial Finance leadership
- Consistently meet or exceed SLA commitments for production support
- Complete knowledge transfer of internal SD/LE processes and custom solutions
- Effectively collaborate with AMS support vendor
- Become knowledgeable in PriceFX integration and support ongoing enhancements
- Independently lead small-to-medium enhancements from design through deployment
Core Responsibilities
SAP SD (Sales & Distribution)
Hands-on configuration and support in:
- Organizational structure
- Order management
- Pricing (condition technique, access sequences, pricing procedures)
- Intercompany processing (cross-company & STO)
- Credit management (basic & dynamic)
- Rebates (classic ECC)
- Output determination & forms
- Billing configuration & troubleshooting
- Reporting & root-cause analysis
Must be comfortable configuring directly in ECC.
SAP LE / Transportation (Classic ECC)
Hands-on experience required in:
- Delivery configuration and processing
- Shipment configuration (LE-TRA)
- Shipment cost document configuration (VI01 / VI02)
- Freight settlement integration to FI
- Output & forms related to shipments
- Reporting & troubleshooting shipment errors
Experience must include classic ECC LE-TRA, not only S/4 TM.
Integration & EDI
- Support inbound/outbound iDocs
- Create mapping documentation for middleware teams
- Integrate with third-party TMS systems (shipment creation, tendering, status updates)
- Support shipment cost EDI integration
- End-to-end order-to-cash integration troubleshooting
Must be able to troubleshoot IDoc failures independently.
Project & Enhancement Work
- Independently gather requirements from business users
- Translate requirements into scalable SAP solutions
- Write functional specifications for ABAP (RICEF)
- Perform unit and regression testing
- Coordinate with AMS and development teams
- Ensure on-time delivery of enhancements
- Provide user training and consulting as needed
Qualifications
- 8+ years SAP SD experience
- Minimum 3 full lifecycle implementations
- Strong recent ECC hands-on configuration experience
- Demonstrated experience supporting production environments
- Deep knowledge of SD and LE integration
- Working knowledge of MM and FI integration
- Experience troubleshooting pricing, billing, delivery, and shipment issues
- ABAP understanding (debugging ability a plus)
- Strong communication skills with business users
- Experience in manufacturing environments preferred
- S/4 exposure is a plus — but ECC expertise is required
