Role Overview

The individual in this role is responsible for designing and delivering infrastructure tools and services that enable business strategies in accordance with architectural governance, standards, and policies. Operating within a platform engineering team, this role focuses on building and evolving a self-service platform that enables internal technology teams to deploy and operate services securely, consistently, and efficiently in a regulated financial environment. This contributor is essential to the creation of reusable infrastructure services, Terraform modules, and automated delivery pipelines, ensuring integration into a cohesive platform offering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in translating business and platform requirements into technical definitions, reference architectures, Terraform modules, and reusable platform patterns.
  • Design, build, and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform to provision services in a scalable, consistent, and compliant manner.
  • Contribute to the development of a self-service platform, creating standardized golden paths and templates that enable internal teams to deploy infrastructure safely.
  • Develop and maintain automation and CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, including validation, security scanning, and controlled infrastructure deployments.
  • Embed security-by-design principles into platform services, ensuring secure defaults through implementation of IAM best practices, encryption standards, and secure network architectures.
  • Support the implementation of governance and guardrails, ensuring infrastructure complies with internal security, risk, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop software and automation solutions using Python to eliminate manual processes and improve platform usability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Technical Analysts, Infrastructure Engineers, and application teams to ensure solutions integrate effectively with the platform.
  • Leverage AI/ML services to accelerate platform development, including enhancing automation, improving developer experience, and enabling intelligent tooling.
  • Contribute to observability and operational excellence, including monitoring, alerting, and continuous improvement of platform reliability.
Required Qualifications

Education: Minimum of a 7-year degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of working experience as a Cloud Automation Engineer, with significant experience writing HashiCorp Terraform configurations and modules in enterprise-scale environments.

Technical Skills: Proficient in DevOps and GitOps models with infrastructure-as-code. Strong knowledge of cloud networking concepts, subnets, routing, load balancing, firewalls, and security. Experience with GitHub, Jenkins, Python scripting, and cloud logging, monitoring, and observability tools.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working within the financial services industry.
  • Experience in various public cloud service providers and technology infrastructure teams.
  • Experience in Linux or UNIX system administration.
  • Experience with container technologies including Kubernetes, OpenShift, and Docker.
