Summary

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Engineering Manager and/or Director of Engineering, this is a mid-level mechanical engineering position where the individual develops, designs and implements mechanical components, assemblies, sales options and product/process improvements, with utilization of computer-aided drafting both individually and/or in a team, and other duties as assigned or requested. This position requires exercising independent judgment, discretion and action in a team environment, developing optimal, cost-effective products, production processes, equipment, components and methods in accordance with customer specifications, sound engineering principles, current technology, quality, regulation compliance and industry standards. This position also supports production launch activities for new or revised products and technical support to Sales, Customer Service, Planning, Purchasing and other departments as requested.

Responsibilities:

Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Plan, conceptualize, and create mechanical designs for new products.
Develop testing processes and perform testing and validation of new designs.
Generate working prototypes for beta testing and customer demonstration.
Perform engineering calculations to support design work.
Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer software.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, and work with vendors and contractors.
Perform detailed documentation to track project development and design process.
Ensure project timeline is met and project stays within budget.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Firm grasp of engineering concepts and experience designing mechanical systems and products.
Excellent math skills: ability to apply advanced mathematical principles and statistics to solve problems.
Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills and reasoning ability.
Ability to communicate effectively and clearly.
Must be self-motivated and a great team worker.

Basic Skill Requirements:

Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.
Requires Engineering/Analysis.
CAD Software.
Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) Software.
Requires 3+ years of related experience.

Description of Work Environment and Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be in an office as well as a climate-controlled manufacturing environment. The noise level is usually moderate. In the plant, eye protection and hearing protection are mandatory, and a dust mask may be required in identified areas.
