Location: Juno Beach, Florida (Onsite)
Position Overview
The Permit Project Manager is responsible for managing and facilitating the permitting process to build renewable energy facilities. This role involves working directly with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) to obtain all necessary permits. The scope includes solar, wind, battery energy storage, and associated transmission and substation infrastructure. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage permit applications for renewable energy construction projects across multiple jurisdictions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local AHJs to facilitate the permitting process.
- Interpret and apply local building codes, zoning regulations, and environmental requirements.
- Prepare and review permit applications and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, construction, development, and project management teams.
- Track and report permit status and ensure timely submission of all required documentation.
- Coordinate permit activity timelines in alignment with the overall project schedule.
- Identify and assess permit risks, develop mitigation strategies, and report to the project team.
- Maintain accurate records of permit applications, approvals, and related communications.
- Assist in the overall management of assigned projects to ensure compliance with budgetary, scheduling, and safety goals.
- Support construction work performed by contractors and vendors, assessing productivity, schedule compliance, and work quality.
- Interface with landowners, local regulators, and state agencies.
Required Qualifications
Education: An Associate's degree in Engineering, Project Management, Land Surveying, or a related field is required.
Experience: 5+ years of experience in a corporate environment, preferably in permitting, regulatory compliance, or a related field. Proven ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment is necessary.
Technical Skills: A strong understanding of building codes and permitting processes is needed. Experience with project management software such as Microsoft Project or Smartsheet is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with construction projects related to renewable energy, electrical utility, or major infrastructure permitting.
- PMP certification.
Work Environment
This is an office-based role with standard business hours, Monday through Friday. Occasional travel to project sites and regulatory offices may be required (up to 25%). Driving will be required as part of the position duties.
