Lead Developer – Enterprise Email Platform (AWS SES / Java / Spring Boot)

Position Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Lead Developer / Enterprise Email Subject Matter Expert (SME) to design and develop a large-scale enterprise email platform using AWS Simple Email Service (SES), Java, and Spring Boot.

The ideal candidate must bring deep expertise in enterprise email architecture, DNS, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, email deliverability, and corporate sender reputation management, combined with strong Java/Spring Boot development experience.

This role requires someone who understands the complete email delivery lifecycle and can take technical ownership of the solution from design through production implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of an enterprise email platform using AWS SES, Java, and Spring Boot.
  • Serve as the Email SME responsible for DNS configuration, email authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), deliverability, and sender/domain reputation.
  • Design and develop scalable Java/Spring Boot services, APIs, and integrations supporting high-volume transactional email.
  • Configure and manage AWS SES, including domain verification, bounce/complaint handling, suppression lists, delivery monitoring, and reputation management.
  • Troubleshoot complex email delivery, DNS, authentication, and application integration issues.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership, guide developers, and drive the solution through successful production deployment.

Required Qualifications

  • Expert-level knowledge of enterprise email systems, including DNS, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, domain alignment, deliverability, and corporate sender reputation management.
  • Strong hands-on Java and Spring Boot development experience, including REST APIs, microservices, and enterprise application integration.
  • Experience implementing and supporting AWS Simple Email Service (SES) in enterprise environments.
  • Strong understanding of transactional email processing, bounce/complaint management, suppression lists, and deliverability troubleshooting.
  • Experience with AWS architecture, event-driven messaging, and scalable application development.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership, strong communication skills, and the ability to independently own and deliver complex technical solutions.

Ideal Candidate

A seasoned technical lead who has designed, developed, or supported enterprise email platforms and possesses both deep email infrastructure expertise and strong hands-on Java/Spring Boot development skills.

Both skill sets are essential. We are not seeking a Java developer with limited email experience or an email administrator without substantial application development expertise.
