Job Description
As a contract Sr. Project Manager, you'll play a key role in supporting our client's projects related to technology, data, strategy, people and processes. You will be responsible for overseeing the successful planning, execution and delivery of projects within the company. This role involves managing cross functional teams, coordinating resources, and ensuring projects align with business goals and expected value delivery.
How you will make an impact:
- Lead delivery of technology projects of varying scope and complexity, aligning delivery approach, tools, and governance to business objectives. Apply strategic thinking to translate priorities into executable plans, balancing near term delivery needs with longer term technology and operating model considerations across teams with different levels of maturity.
- Orchestrate delivery across multiple internal teams and external vendors. Ability to establish clear ownership, decision rights, and escalation paths.
- Own core PMO delivery disciplines, including scope, integrated plans, resourcing needs, schedule, budget, and delivery artifacts, ensuring initiatives are executed with rigor and transparency. Maintain roadmaps, track progress, manage risks and dependencies, and ensure delivery remains aligned to priorities, commitments, and stakeholder expectations.
- Drive successful delivery through strong, team, stakeholders, and executive leadership, translating progress into outcome based communication. Surface risks and tradeoffs, escalate issues, facilitate governance forums, and recommend decisions to sustain credibility in complex, ambiguous environments.
- Collaborate on the Epic and Features roadmap, partnering with stakeholders to define and prioritize Epics and Features based on iterative delivery of business value and impact.
- Manage delivery of complex integrations between internal and external systems (e.g., Azure DevOps, Workday, Snowflake), with strong attention to data integrity, sequencing, and downstream impacts. Comfortable partnering with architects and engineers to translate technical risks into actionable delivery plans.
- Embed change management and adoption into delivery, leading initiatives where adoption, behavior change, and data quality are as critical to success as technical go live.
The experience you will bring:
- 7-10 years progressive experience in program/project management skills, techniques and methodology (Waterfall & Agile).
- Demonstrated experience in Agile methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, and Lean.
- Strong understanding of Agile principles and practices, and ability to coach teams on Agile adoption and continuous improvement.
- Experience in breaking Epics into smaller, manageable Features and user stories.
- Strong analytical skills to assess the impact of new features and changes on the overall project timeline and deliverables.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, exhibit poise and exercise diplomacy in communication, ability to influence others toward consensus, conflict management and decision-making, and to direct work for project office colleague(s).
- Must be a self-starter, have demonstrated experience in a lead role, be well organized, able to coordinate multiple work streams, effectively manage their time and be a strong leader who can adapt rapidly to new developments and changing priorities.
- Experience working with and demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire, cross-functional teams, including IT and third-party vendors.
- Proficiency in using varied project management tools including Jira, Trello, Azure DevOps, SmartSheet, and any capacity/resource management tools.
- Highly skilled in MS productivity tools (SharePoint, MS Teams, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Working knowledge of visualization/analytics tools including PowerBI.
- Strong in critical thinking, data analysis and reporting, risk and controls, and process improvement.
- Knowledge of IT topics such as infrastructure, software development, data, cloud, digital transformation and technology solutions commonly used in the industry.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and adapting to changing business needs.
- A passion for learning and a desire to grow.
- Ability to apply new skills while dealing with ambiguity.
- A bachelor's degree in information systems or it related field.
What will make you stand out:
- Background in strategic management and/or management consulting advantageous.
- MBA, PMP and/or Agile certifications, or other relevant study.
- Experience working in the insurance or related financial services industry.
