Position Overview
This position supports an Intelligence Community (IC) agency program in Hanover, MD, delivering cloud infrastructure integration and engineering for mission-critical classified systems. The Cloud System Integrator (Level 2) designs, implements, and maintains cloud environments across modernization and migration efforts, ensuring systems meet governance requirements and best practices within a classified operating environment. This position requires an active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph prior to start and reports into an embedded program team supporting IC mission priorities.
Candidates should bring 7-10 years of progressive cloud infrastructure experience, with demonstrated depth in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), container orchestration, and multi-cloud architecture. This position requires direct employment with EmergeATS (Kroll subsidiary). No sub-to-sub arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud Infrastructure Design and Implementation
- Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure, including modernization, migration, and roadmap planning, ensuring alignment with governance requirements and security best practices
- Design and implement secure, scalable cloud architectures across compute, storage, networking, and IAM
- Stay current on emerging technologies and recommend enhancements to existing systems
- Infrastructure as Code and Automation
- Build reusable IaC modules (e.g., Helm Charts, Terraform) and enforce development standards for creation and maintenance of Infrastructure as Code
- Develop and maintain IaC using tools including Terraform, CloudFormation, and AWS CDK
- Manage container and platform workloads using Docker, Kubernetes, EKS, AKS, and GKE
- Monitoring, Reliability, and Incident Response
- Continuously monitor infrastructure health and performance using logging and alerting tools (CloudWatch, PrometheGrafana, ELK/OpenSearch) and respond to incidents
- Implement and test backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability strategies
- Manage secrets and key management using tools such as KMS, KeyVault, and Secret Manager, including certificate and rotation policies
- Cost Optimization and Reporting
- Provide strategies for failure recovery, high availability, cost optimization (tagging, budgets, rightsizing, autoscaling), and cloud service benefit analysis
- Optimize cloud cost and performance and produce usage and cost reports
- Documentation and Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to deliverables including architectures, runbooks, and operational procedures, and provide knowledge transfer to internal teams
- Track and report on performance metrics where applicable
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system capabilities and efficiency
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline (or 4+ additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degree)
- Experience: 7+ years of progressive cloud infrastructure and systems engineering experience in DoD or IC classified environments
Additional Required Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph -- must be active prior to start
- Experience provisioning, configuring, and managing cloud infrastructure and services (compute, storage, networking, IAM)
- Experience designing and implementing secure, scalable cloud architectures
- Experience developing and maintaining IaC using Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, or equivalent
- Knowledge of container and platform workloads (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS/AKS/GKE)
- Experience configuring monitoring, logging, and alerting (CloudWatch, PrometheGrafana, ELK/OpenSearch) and responding to incidents
- Experience implementing and testing backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability strategies
- Experience managing secrets and key management (KMS/KeyVault/Secret Manager), certificates, and rotation policies
- Experience optimizing cloud cost and performance (tagging, budgets, rightsizing, autoscaling) and producing usage/cost reports
- Experience troubleshooting cloud infrastructure issues across networking (DNS, routing, VPN), security, and service limits
- Experience documenting architectures, runbooks, and operational procedures
- Experience with Linux OS

- CI/CD pipeline experience (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or equivalent) in a classified environment
- Experience with FedRAMP High, NIST 800-53, RMF, or STIG compliance in cloud configurations
