Responsibilities Internship Summary - The Internship Program with Ascension Technologies is designed to provide an on-the-job learning opportunity to gain "real world" IT work experience in a large IT service environment.
- As a Cybersecurity Operations Intern, you will join a high-performing team dedicated to defending Ascension Technologies from sophisticated threats.
- Ascension Technologies aims to provide a working and learning environment where interns can develop technical skills by spending the summer in the "Control Room," learning how to hunt for adversaries and investigate security breaches.
What You Will Do As an Ascension Technologies Intern, you will be able to work on real-life and meaningful projects, develop your technical skills, collaborate, and network with various teams across the IT Infrastructure and Security continuum.
- Incident Investigation: Focus on investigating security incidents and performing root cause analysis using tools like Google SecOps and SentinelOne.
- Detection Engineering: Write security rules and improve automated detection capabilities to defend against sophisticated threats.
- Playbook Development: Participate in the development of "Playbooks" for incident response and threat triage.
- Technical Reporting: Translate complex security events into clear, structured reports and procedures.
RequirementsEducation:
- High school diploma equivalency OR Enrolled in accredited program specific to discipline required.
Additional Preferences What You Will Need Education: - Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
Preferred Competencies: - Cyber Fundamentals: A solid understanding of IT systems, networking, and the basics of offensive security (how hackers think).
- Offensive Mindset: A solid understanding of IT systems and the basics of offensive security-knowing how hackers think to better find them.
- Tool Interest: A desire to gain proficiency in enterprise-grade platforms like Google SecOps and SentinelOne.
- Analytical Skills: Strong technical writing skills and the ability to "connect the dots" within complex data sets.
- General IT Skills: Proficiency with Google Office tools (meetings, slides, spreadsheets) and familiarity with relational databases/data structures.
