Role: Senior Snowflake Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid)

Duration: 12+ Months Contract

About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Snowflake SME to serve as the go-to technical authority on our Snowflake data platform. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering, architecture, and business enablement partnering with engineering, analytics, and business teams to design scalable solutions and drive best-in-class adoption of Snowflake across the organization.
Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical expert on Snowflake architecture, data modeling, performance tuning, and security best practices
• Lead the design and implementation of Snowflake environments including data warehouses, data lakes, and data sharing configurations
• Develop and enforce platform governance standards including RBAC, data masking, tagging, and cost optimization policies
• Partner with data engineers, analysts, and architects to translate business requirements into scalable Snowflake solutions
• Drive migration efforts from legacy on-prem or cloud data platforms (e.g., Teradata, Redshift, SQL Server) to Snowflake
• Evaluate and implement Snowflake-native features including Snowpark, Dynamic Tables, Cortex AI, and Data Marketplace integrations
• Provide technical mentorship and enablement to junior engineers and cross-functional teams
• Engage directly with Snowflake account teams to stay current on product roadmap and advocate for platform needs
• Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure data governance and regulatory requirements are met

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in data engineering or data architecture, with 6+ years of hands-on Snowflake expertise
• Deep knowledge of Snowflake architecture (virtual warehouses, micro-partitioning, clustering, materialized views, streams/tasks)
• Proficiency in SQL and at least one modern language used with Snowpark (Python or Java/Scala)
• Proven experience designing multi-layer data models (raw, curated, consumption) in Snowflake environments
• Strong understanding of ELT/ETL patterns and experience with orchestration tools (dbt, Airflow, Matillion, or similar)
• Demonstrated ability to optimize query performance and manage warehouse costs at scale
• Experience implementing Snowflake security controls including role hierarchies, row-level security, and dynamic data masking
• Excellent communication skills able to present technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• SnowPro Core or SnowPro Advanced certification
• Experience in financial services, private equity, or a similarly regulated industry
• Familiarity with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform) and their native integration with Snowflake
• Background in data mesh or data product architectures
• Experience with AI/ML workloads in Snowflake (Cortex, Snowpark ML)
