Position Overview:


The Systems Administrator will provide enterprise system administration and technical support for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. This position is responsible for administering Microsoft Azure, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, network services, enterprise applications, workstations, and associated security controls.

The Systems Administrator will monitor system performance, maintain user accounts and access permissions, deploy software and security patches, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and ensure systems remain secure, available, and compliant with EEOC policies and federal information technology requirements.Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer and maintain Microsoft Azure, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Create, modify, disable, and manage user accounts, security groups, distribution groups, permissions, and access controls.
  • Configure and maintain Group Policy Objects (GPOs) in accordance with organizational security and operational requirements.
  • Support identity and access management activities, including account provisioning, authentication, authorization, and access reviews.
  • Use PowerShell to automate recurring administrative tasks, generate reports, manage accounts, and improve system administration processes.
  • Support continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) infrastructure and related automation processes.
  • Monitor servers, systems, applications, and network performance to identify availability, capacity, or security concerns.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity and performance issues involving firewalls, network protocols, and related infrastructure.
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining network security controls.
  • Install, configure, update, test, and patch operating systems and enterprise applications.
  • Coordinate software deployments across the EEOC enterprise network.
  • Monitor software installations and deployments to verify successful completion and resolve failures.
  • Implement workstation security policies, system-hardening standards, and approved security configurations.
  • Monitor systems and workstations for vulnerabilities, unauthorized activity, malware, and other security threats.
  • Apply security updates, remediation actions, and configuration changes within established timeframes.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, operating system, Microsoft application, and system-access issues.
  • Provide technical assistance to users and coordinate the escalation of complex incidents when necessary.
  • Document configurations, troubleshooting activities, technical procedures, system changes, and issue resolutions.
  • Maintain accurate system administration records in accordance with established EEOC procedures.
  • Collaborate with help desk, cybersecurity, network, engineering, and application-support teams to resolve enterprise technical issues.
  • Perform system administration duties in accordance with EEOC policies, federal security requirements, and recognized information technology best practices.
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • In lieu of a bachelor's degree, a minimum of ten years of relevant professional systems administration or information technology experience may be substituted.
  • Relevant professional experience administering enterprise Microsoft systems and supporting end users in a complex network environment.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience administering Microsoft Azure, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365.
  • Experience managing user accounts, Group Policies, permissions, security groups, and access controls.
  • Proficiency with PowerShell scripting and administrative automation.
  • Experience supporting CI/CD infrastructure and automated deployment processes.
  • Knowledge of network administration, performance monitoring, connectivity troubleshooting, firewalls, and network protocols.
  • Experience installing, deploying, updating, and patching software across an enterprise network.
  • Knowledge of workstation security, threat monitoring, system hardening, vulnerability remediation, and security-policy implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve computer hardware, software, operating system, Microsoft application, and connectivity issues.
  • Ability to document technical activities and follow established change-management, security, and operational procedures.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, customer-service, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with technical teams, government stakeholders, and end users.
