Role Overview

The Test Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated test frameworks and scripts to validate application functionality, performance, and integration points. This role works closely with QA, development, product, and operations teams to ensure highquality software delivery.

UFT (Unified Functional Testing) expertise is a must, with strong handson experience building and executing automated test suites within enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Micro Focus UFT (mandatory).
• Build and enhance reusable test automation frameworks for functional, regression, and integration testing.
• Execute automated test suites, analyze results, and document defects with clear reproducible steps.
• Collaborate with QA and development teams to identify test automation opportunities and expand coverage.
• Create and maintain test documentation including test plans, test cases, traceability matrices, and automation standards.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD workflows and strengthen overall testing pipeline efficiency.
• Work with API tools (e.g., Postman, REST clients) to validate integrations, endpoints, and payload structures.
• Partner with developers to troubleshoot failures, log issues, and validate fixes.
• Participate in release validation, smoke testing, and regression cycles.
• Support the implementation of best practices around test automation, scripting, and test data management.
• Identify opportunities to introduce new test techniques, tools, or optimizations that enhance quality and efficiency.

Experience & Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with UFT (Unified Functional Testing) - required.
• Experience building and maintaining automation frameworks and reusable test assets.
• Strong scripting experience using VBScript (UFT), plus experience with languages such as Python or Java is a plus.
• Experience automating tests for web, desktop, and API-based applications.
• Solid understanding of QA methodologies: functional, regression, smoke, integration, and system testing.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab, GitHub Actions).
• Knowledge of version control systems (Git preferred).
• Experience using ALM/QC, Jira, or similar defect and test management tools.
• Ability to analyze logs, troubleshoot automation issues, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.

Bonus Skills/Nice to Haves

• Experience with other automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright.
• Exposure to API automation using tools like Postman or ReadyAPI.
• Experience with performance testing tools (LoadRunner, JMeter).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
• Background in continuous testing and DevOps-enabled quality practices.
