Data Engineer

Job Description:

The ideal candidate is passionate about design and data. You enjoy weaving together data to build a data narrative that drives action. You're innovative, you have a passion for data analysis, and words like PARTITION BY or UNION ALL do not scare you. On this team, you'll be responsible for ETL design, development, implementation, support, and data analysis with exposures to various technology stacks and opportunities to hone your design chops.

What you'll be responsible for:

• Designing and developing HIVE code


• Designing and developing automated solutions


• Performance monitoring and tuning of existing automated jobs


• Troubleshooting failures


• Ad hoc analyses


• Query data to answer business questions and to support investigations


• Engage with subject matter experts to develop metrics and key performance indicators

What you need to succeed:

• Outstanding ability to communicate clearly and concisely


• Thorough, take detailed notes and capture correct information


• Strong ETL development background


• BASH experience


• Understanding of YARN and HDFS


• Experience with SQL for analysis and data investigation


• AWS cloud experience a plus, but not required (Cloudwatch, Lambda, EMR, Athena)


• Excellent analytical skills, curious about data


• Ability to think creatively to identify solutions


• Driven, hungry for opportunities


• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines


• Desire to learn and continue growing your technical skillset

Requirements
Top 3 Requirements:

• Strong SQL skills


• Python


• Data transformation skills within SQL and Python (how to get metrics out of a data set)


• ETL experience

Plusses:

• AWS


• Big data tools
