Summary
GainwellRx is our business platform to support states and Medicaid members across the country for prescription drug related services. The Senior Director of Rx Account Management is a strategic leader accountable for shaping, enhancing, and delivering high-performing pharmacy account operations across GainwellRx. This role leads a geographically diverse team of account managers responsible for overseeing pharmacy benefit relationships with State Medicaid agencies across the country. This leader serves as the primary escalation point and executive partner to key state stakeholders, ensuring alignment on clinical, operational, and financial objectives related to pharmacy benefit programs. The Senior Director will provide direction and oversight to account teams in managing contract deliverables, compliance requirements, clinical strategies, and cost management initiatives, while promoting best practices and operational consistency across markets. Success in this position requires deep expertise in Medicaid pharmacy benefits, strong executive presence, and the ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders in a dynamic, policy-driven landscape.

Your role in our mission
  • Lead a team of Pharmacy Account Managers supporting multiple state Medicaid Pharmacy programs delivering consultative services with a high NPS and operational excellence.
  • Provide strategic consultative pharmacy services to state Medicaid leadership advising them on all aspects of a Medicaid pharmacy benefit.
  • Aligns with State Sector Leads and Account General Managers on client needs and VOC, partnering with Product and pharmacy leadership team.
  • Assesses market trends, customer segments, and drives internal and external value proposition and message for GainwellRx.
  • Partners with Pharmacy executive team in developing and delivering pharmacy market and solution training to state account teams.
  • Aligns with Product team and Growth team for field campaigns, training, webinars, and client presentations.
  • Drives new solution ideas, partners with states on new concepts, and works with product & engineering teams to deliver models to support them.
  • Collaborates with Marketing on GainwellRx overall market message, media strategy, and GTM strategy.
  • Supports state needs through RFP and bid proposals.
  • Partners with Pharmacy executive team to drive business strategy and business development through market and competitive insights and analysis.
  • Connect market insights into growth strategies and solution pipeline strategies.
  • Drives key initiatives in support of strategy, pharmacy growth, and business development.
  • Drives market analysis in support of business development projects and senior leadership key initiatives.
  • Serves as an industry expert on GainwellRx, interfacing with external clients, vendors, and business partners.
  • Collaborates across account teams, sales teams, product teams, and other shared service functions.


What we're looking for
  • Degree in pharmacy, or advanced degree with significant experience leading clinical operations.
  • 15+ years of pharmacy related experience.
  • 10+ years leading large teams and organizations.
  • Strong people and team leader, experienced with navigating change and matrix reporting relationships.
  • Experience interacting with clients in the healthcare industry.
  • Experience in utilization management and prior authorization.
  • Track record of leadership of teams and projects spanning people, process, and technology.
  • Experience managing departmental budgets and driving process improvement.
  • Excellent communications skills, with ability to communicate externally and with senior leaders and c-suite executives.
  • Innovative forward thinker with excellent leadership skills.


What you should expect in this role
  • This position is 100% remote, with approximately 25% travel to support key client meetings.

The pay range for this position is $143,600.00 - $230,000.00 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
