Notes: Looking for Senior Network Engineer focused on Cisco enterprise/data center switching. The ideal candidate is a hands-on infrastructure engineer who can design, implement, troubleshoot, and support Layer 2/Layer 3 switching, Cisco NexCatalyst environments, switching fabrics, and fiber optic connectivity in a hybrid enterprise environment.

Target candidate profile: A Cisco CCNP-certified Network Engineer with strong experience supporting enterprise or data center switching infrastructure, comfortable handling Tier 2/3 escalations, change management, and cross-functional collaboration with security and infrastructure teams.

Position Overview

Join a team responsible for designing, deploying, and supporting enterprise and data center Cisco switching infrastructure. This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on network engineer with deep expertise in Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching, switching fabric technologies, and fiber optic connectivity within complex Cisco environments.

What You'll Do

• Design, configure, deploy, and support Cisco Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching infrastructure using Catalyst and Nexus platforms.
• Manage switching fabric architectures including leaf-spine and core/distribution/access designs.
• Configure VLANs, trunking, inter-VLAN routing, SVIs, routed ports, and multilayer switching.
• Deploy and troubleshoot dynamic routing protocols including OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP.
• Implement Spanning Tree, VPC, port channels, and LACP/PAGP configurations.
• Support VXLAN/EVPN overlay fabrics in modern data center environments.
• Install, validate, and troubleshoot fiber optic transceivers and connectivity across enterprise infrastructure.
• Collaborate with security teams on firewall interface connectivity and network segmentation.
• Perform capacity planning, performance monitoring, documentation, and Tier 2/3 escalation support.
• Participate in change management, maintenance windows, and on-call rotation.

Required qualifications (priority)

• Cisco CCNP Enterprise or Data Center certification
• 5+ years of enterprise/data center Network Engineering experience
• Hands-on experience with Cisco Catalyst (3K/4K/9K) and Cisco Nexus (5K/7K/9K)
• Strong Layer 2 expertise: VLANs, STP variants, trunking, LACP/PAGP, VPC
• Strong Layer 3 expertise: SVIs, multilayer switching, OSPF/EIGRP/BGP, HSRP/VRRP/GLBP
• Fiber optic networking: SFP/SFP+/QSFP+/QSFP28, SMF/MMF, DOM, OTDR, optical troubleshooting
• Experience supporting Cisco switching infrastructure in enterprise or data center environments

Preferred qualifications

• VXLAN/EVPN data center fabric experience
• Network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios, or similar)
• Wireshark and SPAN/RSPAN/ERSPAN experience
• ITSM/change management tools (ServiceNow or similar)
• Arista EOS familiarity

Niche skill combination: Cisco Nexus switching fabric + advanced Layer 2/Layer 3 switching + fiber optic infrastructure + working familiarity with firewall interface integration.
