Position Location

This position is based in Seattle, Washington.

Hourly wage $34.85.

Job Overview

Provide all aspects of IT support for Scientific Research Vessel USCHealy. Work both underway and on shore. Underway deployments are between 2 and 8 weeks. Onshore work includes an on-call rotation. Customer base includes research scientists, technicians, outreach personnel, and military personnel. The successful candidate will have strong technical skills and the ability to provide positive user support at a wide range of skill levels and interests.

Create and maintain PKI infrastructure
Provide helpdesk support to embarked scientists and crew members
Ship-to-shore communications (Satellite Systems)
Underway maintenance and support on board USCHealy
Information Assurance to Federal Government (DISA) standard
Firewall, router, and switch configuration and maintenance
Other tasking as directed.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:
Associates Degree from an accredited Community or Technical College in Computer Science or related field, or three years System Administrator experiencewith acceptable driving record pertinent to position.
Ability to obtain and maintain Secret security clearance.
U.S. Citizenship.
Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and pre-hire drug test.

Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, or Network Engineering, or four years System Administrator experience
Additional experience or training in one or more leading operating systems, network equipment, and network protocols
User support experience
Following certifications: CCNA, CompTIA Security+, RHCSA/RHCE

Working Conditions:
Moderate noise levels
Occasional evening or weekend work
On call as needed
Must be able to work underway at sea for 35 days or more at a time

Physical Requirements:
Sit or stand for several hours
Lift items up to 50 pounds
Climb ladders and stairs
