Azure and Databricks Data Analyst (Remote)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in San Antonio, TX that is seeking a Data Analyst to support a modern cloud-based data architecture initiative focused on HR and succession planning data. This role will partner closely with data architects and business stakeholders to assess current-state data environments, document data quality and lineage, and help shape a scalable target architecture in Azure and Databricks. This is a hands-on role emphasizing data discovery, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration, rather than dashboard or reporting development.

Key Responsibilities:
* Perform data discovery across HR and succession planning systems, including data lineage, refresh patterns, and downstream dependencies
* Inventory data sources, systems, and data flows; Assess data quality gaps and document remediation needs
* Partner with data architects to evaluate Azure and Databricks environment maturity and inform target-state design
* Document source-to-target mappings aligned to a medallion (Bronze-Silver-Gold) architecture
* Collaborate with business stakeholders to validate data usage, access patterns, and reporting requirements
* Author and maintain engagement deliverables such as current-state assessments, data inventories, and onboarding playbooks
* Coordinate project activities by tracking milestones, risks, decisions, and action items through completion
* Support proof-of-concept efforts through data validation, test scenarios, and pipeline documentation
* Contribute to executive readouts, mid-engagement reviews, and roadmap recommendations

REQUIREMENTS:
* 5+ years of experience as a Data Analyst, Analytics Consultant, or similar role
* Strong experience working with cloud data platforms, preferably Azure and Databricks
* Hands-on experience with data discovery, data lineage, and source-to-target mapping
* Familiarity with modern data lake or lakehouse architectures
* Strong documentation and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical findings for business and executive audiences
* Experience working in cross-functional, matrixed environments

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
