Summary

Staff Software Engineer (.NET / AWS) Position Summary:
Our partner is a growing SaaS platform serving legal and accounting organizations, strengthening its core architecture as it scales. Several legacy products are being integrated into a unified, cloud-native environment, and they are seeking a Software Architect to define how these systems perform and evolve over time. The focus is end-to-end application architecture within a multi-tenant AWS environment built primarily on .NET. This includes shaping service boundaries, improving performance under load, stabilizing production behavior, and aligning infrastructure patterns with application demands. The right individual understands distributed systems, has made architectural trade-offs in production, and can defend decisions with both technical and business reasoning.
Experience and Education:

BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or equivalent experience/field
8+ years designing and delivering production-grade software within SaaS environments
Proven ownership of application architecture in distributed systems
Deep hands-on development experience in .NET and C#
Strong production experience building and operating systems on AWS
Experience modernizing or refactoring legacy systems into scalable cloud-native architectures
Track record supporting SQL Server-backed applications with high performance and data integrity requirements

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Own application architecture decisions across a suite of integrated SaaS products
Guide modernization of legacy applications into a cohesive multi-tenant cloud platform
Define pragmatic patterns for services, APIs, integrations, and data access
Partner with engineering teams to improve reliability, performance, and scalability
Diagnose production failures, isolate root causes, and drive durable fixes
Step in hands on for complex technical challenges when the team is blocked
Evaluate architectural risks, bottlenecks, and failure modes before they reach customers
Work across backend, database, frontend touchpoints, and integration surfaces to ensure end to end cohesion
Collaborate with platform architecture to align shared services, identity patterns, and governance standards
Ensure AWS workloads are designed appropriately for application needs and expected usage patterns
Support infrastructure as code and deployment pipelines from an application behavior perspective
Create clear technical direction that engineers can implement without ambiguity
Bring structure to how products integrate, including contracts, versioning, and dependency management
Balance near term delivery with long term maintainability and cost-conscious design
Contribute to a culture of engineering reasoning, where tradeoffs are documented and decisions are intentional
