Sales Engineer - Remote (Travel Required)
Full-Time | Technical | Up to $120,000 Base + Quarterly Bonus
Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Sales Engineer to support rugged mobile computing, video solutions, and related backend technologies across the full pre sales and post sales lifecycle. This role combines technical expertise, customer engagement, and hands on field work to ensure successful solution evaluations, deployments, and ongoing support.
This is a remote role, but requires out of state travel approximately 2-4 days per week.
The ideal candidate is confident working directly with customers, strong with technical troubleshooting, and able to communicate complex concepts clearly.
Key Responsibilities
Pre Sales & Customer Engagement
- Prepare and deliver technical product demonstrations (remote and onsite).
- Lead technical discovery sessions with customers, partners, and internal sales teams.
- Plan, execute, and manage customer trials including configuration, field testing, data collection, and reporting.
- Provide technical guidance and recommendations based on customer requirements.
Technical Support & Deployment
- Serve as the technical point of contact throughout evaluations, trials, deployments, and post sales support.
- Troubleshoot hardware, video systems, servers, firmware, wireless offload, networking, and data workflows.
- Manage escalations and coordinate custom solution requests.
Documentation & Communication
- Maintain accurate documentation of trials, project updates, and technical activity.
- Support technical sections of RFQs/RFPs with accurate, solution specific responses.
- Communicate technical findings to internal engineering and product teams.
- Represent the organization at customer meetings, trade shows, industry events, and conferences.
Cross Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Regional Sales Managers and internal teams to align on priorities.
- Gather customer requirements and translate them into actionable requests for engineering.
- Share field insights and industry trends with Product Management and R&D.
Requirements
Education & Certifications
- College degree helpful but not required; equivalent hands on experience accepted.
- CompTIA A+ required (or obtained within 90 days of hire).
- Additional certifications such as MCSE, networking, cloud, or video technology preferred.
Experience
- 1-5 years of pre sales or post sales technical engineering experience in rugged computing, mobile technology, video systems, or similar fields.
- Experience working with sales teams, engineering, end users, and third party partners.
Skills
- Strong multitasking, prioritization, and escalation management skills.
- Excellent communication with both technical and non technical audiences.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
Technical Knowledge
- Troubleshooting laptops, tablets, video systems, cameras, and related technologies.
- Understanding of Windows imaging, drivers, BIOS settings, encryption, and OS deployment.
- Experience with backend servers, video storage, wireless offload workflows, and data lifecycle management.
- Familiarity with vehicle technology integrations (mounts, docks, modems, antennas, MDT components).
- Wireless troubleshooting (GPS, 4G/5G, modems, access points, antennas).
- Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11; ability to support future versions.
- Helpful: Networking basics, cloud workflows, AI-enhanced video, and system architecture.
Travel Requirements
- Out of state travel 2-4 days per week
- Additional domestic travel as needed; limited international travel possible.
