Summary:

The Mechanical Designer should have a working understanding of process, oil and gas industry, and preferably pipeline and pipeline facilities (meter/regulator, valve, and launcher/receiver sites). Must also have advanced knowledge and skill set with 3D Modeling programs and mechanical design of piping systems. Must have the ability to develop project design drawings in conformance with scope of work, specifications, design parameters, codes, and industry practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Producing mechanical / piping 3D Models, detail drawings, P&IDs for bid, construction, and as-built packages.
  • Prepare Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID's)
  • Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • Assist in the development of company standards, and procedures
  • Perform design and drafting check of drawings, revise as required
  • Participate in design reviews, when required
  • Monitor the design/drafting progress and report to PM
  • Proactively anticipate problems during execution of the design process and mitigate before they occur.
  • Check drawings for accuracy and completeness
  • Apply and review company D&D Standards
  • Documents and/or reviews facility changes and complies with the Company's Process Safety Management program.

Required Education:
  • High School Diploma required; Bachelor's, Associate's or Technical Degree preferred.

    Drafter level requires a degree or equivalent experience and 0-5 years of relevant job-related experience

    Senior Drafter / Designer level requires a degree or equivalent experience and 5-10 years of relevant job-related experience

    Senior Designer / Lead Designer level requires a degree or equivalent experience and 10+ years of relevant job-related experience


Software:
  • Proficient using AutoCAD 2021, CADWorx 3D and CADWorx P&ID, proficient using complete Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Good working knowledge of network servers and windows folders structures


Experience/Qualifications:
  • Experience in oil and gas industry, prefer pipeline and related facilities (pump stations, meter sites, etc.)
  • Preferred piping design experience, preferably in the pipeline, terminal, refinery or related industry.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, CADWorx 3D, CADWorx P&ID, & Isogen is required.
  • Proficiency working with Survey data and *3D laser scan data is required. (*required for Designer Role)
  • Excellent PC skills, with proficiency in Microsoft products required.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to proof work for accuracy.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively and with other personnel, corporate departments, as well as, with external customers required.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently, managing time and scheduling to meet appropriate deadlines.
  • Ability to take directions from supervisors and work in a team environment required.
  • Ability to work independently with very limited supervision and independently conduct job accountabilities.
  • Ability to Read and Interpret Engineering Drawings (P&IDs, PFDs, Piping)
  • Excellent Problem-Solving skills: define/understand the problem, identify constraints, work towards the best possible solution.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong interpersonal skills required.


Working Conditions:
  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Driving, walking, standing frequently.
  • Exposure to adverse weather, cramped conditions and some heavy lifting
  • Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
