Job Title: Solutions ArchitectWork Location: Hybrid; onsite 2-5 times a week in Arlington, VA (applicant must be based within a commutable distance (1-2 hours) within the National Capital Region)Alpha Omega is looking for a Solutions Architect to join our team to support one of our government customers.The Solutions Architect serves as the Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for OCIO supporting the Enterprise Architecture design, governance, quality, and protections relating to systems, data and networks. The Solutions Architect will collaboratively work with Business and Functional leadership/stakeholders and technical teams to align and support the strategic requirements of the department.
The Solutions Architect position is responsible for designing, reviewing, and overseeing the implementation of complex systems and solutions focusing on consolidation, modernization, migration, and management of operational systems, data and networks that are spread across various cloud platforms and on premises. The Solution Architect shall understand and adhere to departmental regulations, policies, standards, and practices at both business and functional levels to achieve consistency, quality, protection and transparency.
Key Responsibilities:- Work with stakeholders to understand and document business needs, technical requirements, and constraints.
- Work with multiple technical teams to translate business requirements into solutions using on-premises, AWS, Azure, or hybrid cloud services.
- Develop Pilots and Proof of Concepts (POC) focusing on demonstrating specific capabilities, value, or feasibility.
- Collaborate to develop architecture diagrams, models, and documentation using government approved technologies, frameworks, and platforms; ensuring the solutions are scalable, secure, reliable, and cost-effective.
- Provide technical oversight and guidance through implementation and support to resolve technical challenges and make critical decisions.
- Collaborate with the creation and management of DHS ICE System Engineering Lifecycle (SELC)/Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) documentation.
- Present solutions, roadmaps, and capabilities to business leadership and stakeholders.
- Document and communicate risks, trade-offs and benefits.
- Ensure new solutions integrate smoothly with existing systems and provide interfaces for interoperability.
- Incorporate security best practices and compliance requirements into solutions.
- Support with DHS ICE Security assessments, certifications, audits, and authorizations.
- Produce and present clear documentation for architecture, processes, and decisions.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and recommend improvements.
- Build knowledge bases in Confluence, Teams, SharePoint etc. with clear documentation and step-by-step guides to help with onboarding, awareness and collaboration.
- Facilitate level-of-effort (LOE) estimate and staffing requirements and scope of proposed work and support Acquisition Package creation.
- Establish KPIs for monitoring cost efficiency, resource usage, and utilization (Ability to track business trend and use); correlate how business use cases impact cloud services utilization.
Required Qualifications: Required Experience/Skills: - 5-10 years of experience required in an IT development environment.
- 3-5 years of experience writing System Engineering Lifecycle (SELC)/Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) documentation.
- 5 years of experience in a major services organization, with large-scale or project management and oversight experience.
- 5 years in a Solutions Architect role, with transformation leadership experience.
- Knowledge of industry leading data quality and data protection practices.
- Knowledge of governance practices.
- Knowledge of enterprise information assets and approaches related to cyber security.
- Knowledge of data related to government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues.
- Knowledge of change management concepts and strategies, including communication, culture change, and performance measurement system design.
- Knowledge of Risk Management frameworks and experience with Risk Management.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure such as AWS and Azure.
- Knowledge of data migration, data mapping, and data modeling.
- Familiarity with microservices and composable business systems.
- Familiarity with Advanced Analytics (AA), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Large Language Models (LLM), and Robotic Process Automation (RPA).
- Ability to recognize internally and externally stakeholders and technical dependencies.
- Ability to take on the role of subject matter experts (SME); a self-starter.

Salary and Benefit Information: The likely salary range for this position is $115,000- $130,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position and could fall outside of this range.
