Senior Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) DBA – Upgrade / Migration
Experience: 8–12+ years (recommended)
Project: Oracle EBS R12.1.3 upgrade to R12.2.x
Role Type: Oracle Applications DBA (Apps DBA)
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Oracle EBS DBA to lead and support the technical upgrade of Oracle E-Business Suite R12.1.3 to a higher version, preferably R12.2. The candidate will be responsible for upgrade planning, environment preparation, database upgrades, application-tier upgrades, online patching implementation, cloning, performance tuning, and post-upgrade stabilization.
Key Responsibilities
1. Oracle EBS Upgrade and Migration
- Plan and execute Oracle EBS R12.1.3 to R12.2.x upgrade activities.
- Assess the current EBS environment, customizations, integrations, and technology stack.
- Execute upgrade phases using Oracle-recommended upgrade utilities and procedures.
- Perform database upgrades to a version certified for the target EBS release.
- Upgrade application-tier technology components, including Oracle Fusion Middleware and WebLogic, as applicable.
- Coordinate functional, technical, infrastructure, and business teams throughout the upgrade lifecycle.
- Support technical cutover, go-live, rollback planning, and post-upgrade stabilization.
2. Oracle Applications DBA Administration
- Administer Oracle EBS application and database tiers.
- Manage application services, concurrent managers, workflow mailer, listeners, and database services.
- Perform EBS cloning across development, test, UAT, staging, and production environments.
- Maintain context files, AutoConfig configurations, and application-tier configuration.
- Manage application and database patching using AD utilities and supported patching tools.
3. R12.2 Online Patching
- Implement and support the R12.2 online patching architecture.
- Execute adop phases, including prepare, apply, finalize, cutover, and cleanup.
- Understand the dual file system, run edition, patch edition, and edition-based redefinition concepts.
- Troubleshoot online patching failures and resolve synchronization or filesystem issues.
- Support custom objects and code remediation required for online patching.
4. Database Administration
- Perform Oracle database installation, upgrades, patching, backup, and recovery.
- Manage RMAN backups, recovery procedures, tablespaces, datafiles, and database growth.
- Perform database performance tuning using AWR, ADDM, execution plans, and SQL tuning techniques.
- Monitor database availability, space utilization, and resource consumption.
- Support Data Guard or other high-availability solutions where applicable.
5. Technical Stack and Troubleshooting
- Work with Oracle EBS technology stack components, including Forms, Reports, WebLogic, HTTP Server, and Oracle database connectivity.
- Troubleshoot application startup issues, concurrent processing, invalid objects, and patching errors.
- Analyze EBS logs, database alert logs, and application-tier logs.
- Validate integrations, interfaces, workflows, reports, and custom applications after the upgrade.
6. Documentation and Coordination
- Prepare upgrade runbooks, technical design documents, migration plans, and rollback procedures.
- Conduct upgrade rehearsals and downtime estimates.
- Coordinate with Oracle Support through service requests when required.
- Provide knowledge transfer and technical documentation to the operations team.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading at least one complete Oracle EBS R12.1.3 to R12.2 upgrade.
- Experience with custom objects, interfaces, reports, and third-party integrations.
- Familiarity with Oracle EBS upgrade documentation, certification matrices, and Oracle Support notes.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure or OCI migrations is an advantage.
- Strong communication, documentation, and cutover coordination skills.
