AI Specialist Public Safety & GenAI

Role Overview
We are seeking an AI Specialist with strong experience in Public Safety systems and Generative AI to design, build, and deploy AI-powered solutions for law enforcement and authorized users.
The ideal candidate will enable natural-language querying of law-enforcement data, replacing complex SQL and traditional search interfaces with secure, intelligent AI-driven experiences while ensuring strict compliance with CJIS and PII regulations.
Job Description
- Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML and Generative AI solutions to enhance law-enforcement data access and decision-making
- Build a natural-language query interface that allows users to query CLEMIS datasets using everyday language
- Collaborate with law-enforcement stakeholders to identify use cases, gather requirements, and translate them into AI solutions
- Perform data preprocessing, transformation, masking, and enrichment for sensitive CJIS/PII data
- Extract data from on-premise Oracle and SQL Server databases and migrate to AWS Cloud
- Store and optimize data for AI/ML workloads using Vector Databases (e.g., Pinecone)
- Implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions using AWS Bedrock
- Integrate industry-standard AI models such as Claude, AWS Titan, or AWS Nova
- Develop scalable pipelines for model training, validation, deployment, and monitoring
- Stay current with the latest AI research, GenAI trends, and public-sector compliance requirements
Required Qualifications:
2 3+ years of experience with Public Safety applications:
- CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch)
- RMS (Records Management Systems)
- FRMS
Strong understanding of law-enforcement datasets and their relationships
Hands-on experience with AI/ML and GenAI solution development
Experience extracting and transforming data from Oracle and SQL Server
Strong knowledge of AWS services, including:
- AWS Bedrock
- S3, Lambda, EC2, IAM
Experience with Vector Databases (Pinecone or equivalent)
Knowledge of RAG architectures and LLM integration
Familiarity with CJIS compliance, PII masking, and data security best practices
Strong communication skills and ability to work with non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Skills
Experience working with law-enforcement agencies or public-sector clients
Prior implementation of GenAI search or conversational AI systems
Knowledge of predictive analytics in public safety or criminal justice
AWS certifications (preferred, not required)
