CMDB Configuration Manager to support Kentro's
Veterans Affairs ESOM contract.
The Configuration Manager provides support for ITSM/CMDB Operationalization efforts within the VA's IT environment, focusing on Service Configuration Management (SCM) process implementation to support Enterprise CMDB Operationalization. This is a full-time, fully remote position vital to mission accomplishment and the sustainment of IO/VA operations and Veteran Programs.
Location: This position can be performed remotely within the United States and will support Eastern Time working hours.
Compensation Range: The salary for this position is between $135-155K/annually. Factors affecting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
ResponsibilitiesSCM Governance
- Contribute to SCM governance documentation, including policy, procedures, work instructions, and training materials for internal and external process customers.
- Support the SCM Process Owner with SME knowledge to advance SCM program maturity, including participation in Governance and Advisory Boards.
- Evaluate SCM process activities and recommend continuous improvement opportunities, including automation and ITSM tool workflow enhancements.
CMDB Health and Data Quality Management
- Support CMDB Health activities related to Completeness, Compliance, and Correctness of Configuration Items (CIs), including configuring CMDB Health functions within the ITSM tool.
- Analyze CI data to support SCM process improvement and ensure alignment with the Common Service Data Model (CSDM) and TBM Services Model.
CMDB Configuration Auditing
- Support CMDB Configuration Audits, including development of automated audits leveraging ITSM tool audit functions.
- Utilize auditing tools and scripting to optimize ITSM tool audit functions.
Services Data Management
- Create and maintain Services Data in the CMDB, including Business Services, Mapped Application Services, and Technical Services.
- Support SCM process automation efforts such as Discovery and Service Mapping supporting CMDB CI ingestion.
- Complete day-to-day SCM process activities, including Service Requests,
- Change Requests, and customer inquiries.
- Reporting and Stakeholder Communication
- Support creation of reports and dashboards analyzing CMDB CI data using ITSM tool functionality or additional reporting tools.
- Provide timely status reporting on SCM sustainment activities and participate in ITSM tool UAT activities as required.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems Management, Technology Management, Computer Science, or a related field, plus 10+ years of relevant experience; an additional 8 years of relevant experience may be substituted for the education requirement.
- Experience supporting the implementation of Service Configuration Management and CMDB process functions.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with ServiceNow, including ITOM Suite (Discovery, Service Mapping, Event Management), ITSM modules (Incident, Change, Problem, CMDB), and Strategic Portfolio Management Suite (APM, TPM).
- Experience with CMDB Health configuration and knowledge of the Common Service Data Model (CSDM) and TBM Services Model.
- Familiarity with automated CI ingestion workflows and Discovery/Service Mapping integrations.
Process and Analytical Skills
- Working knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM) frameworks and methodologies.
- Experience supporting CMDB Health Auditing processes, including Completeness, Compliance, and Correctness assessments.
- Ability to analyze CI datasets and translate findings into actionable process improvements.
Soft Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including producing clear reports and dashboards.
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment while coordinating with cross-functional teams.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with ServiceNow CMDB, Change Management, or SCM modules.
- Experience with government-aligned ITSM processes for Change, Release, and Service Configuration Management.
