Description Perform process design calculations and develop deliverables such as hydraulic calculations, equipment sizing, process simulations, Heat and Material Balances (H&MB), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs). Perform chemical engineering design activities on projects from the conceptual phase through design completion. Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Perform work that involves conventional engineering practices but may involve a variety of complex features. Coordinate departmental and divisional project studies and report preparation assignments. Telecommuting is allowed up to 30 days per year. Primarily domestic travel up to 25% is required based on project needs.
Qualifications Requires a Bachelor's degree, in Chemical Engineering, or a directly related field from an ABET accredited program plus three (3) years of chemical engineering experience on EPC projects in oil, gas and chemical industries.
Must have three (3) years of experience in each of the following:
- Process simulations software, such as HYSYS, Aspen Plus, PetroSim, ProMax, or PRO/II.
- Development and utilization of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Process equipment design, such as vessels, tanks, heat exchangers, towers, or pumps.
- Hydraulic calculations, including line sizing and defining control valve process requirements.
- Development of process design conditions (pressure and temperature) for equipment and piping.
- Development of process data for instrumentation, such as flow, level, temperature, or pressure transmitters.
- Basic computer software, such as Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam
Alternatively, the employer will accept a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, or a directly related field from an ABET accredited program plus two (2) years of chemical engineering experience on EPC projects in oil, gas and chemical industries in lieu of a Bachelor's degree plus three (3) years of described experience.
