Summary
We are seeking a high-level Cloud/Platform/Systems Specialist to lead infrastructure modernization and support senior resources in a critical public safety IT environment. This is an onsite role in Des Moines, IA, focused on bridging on-premises infrastructure with AWS cloud services.
Key Responsibilities
- Hybrid Cloud Architecture: Design and optimize AWS environments (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3) that integrate seamlessly with on-prem systems.
- Legacy Modernization: Lead migrations from legacy systems to AWS, including roadmaps and workload assessments.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Define patterns and collaborate on Terraform module designs and CI/CD pipelines.
- Performance & Resilience: Eliminate single points of failure, manage backup/DR (RTO/RPO), and build performance dashboards.
- FinOps & Optimization: Identify cost-saving opportunities through instance rightsizing and lifecycle automation.
- Security & Compliance: Enforce AWS guardrails (MFA, encryption, IAM boundaries) and produce audit evidence packages.
Required Skills & Experience (5+ Years)
- AWS Expertise: Advanced administration of EC2, VPC, IAM, and S3.
- Hybrid Workloads: Experience with identity, authentication, and routing across cloud and on-prem.
- Automation: Strong knowledge of Terraform; experience with Ansible is highly preferred.
- FinOps: Proven ability to estimate costs and deliver quick, cost-effective solutions.
- Documentation: Ability to produce high-quality architecture diagrams, troubleshooting workflows, and operational guides.
