Role: Senior Implementation Manager
Location: Richland, WA Onsite
Duration: 1+ Year
Role Summary
This role provides high-level mechanical expertise, technical review, and execution support for major risk-significant mechanical projects, including those on outage critical paths. The specialist ensures projects are well-planned, compliant, safe, and executed with high quality-while helping reduce outage hours, cost, and schedule risk.
You will work directly with project managers and support teams to evaluate strategies, identify risks, fix technical issues early, and guide field execution.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Review & Validation
Review project schedules, work plans, technical documents, and vendor procedures to identify improvements in quality, efficiency, and resource usage.
Verify accuracy and readiness of Work Order Tasks (WOTs), correcting technical errors, missing references, unclear instructions, or potential error traps.
Evaluate test plans and acceptance criteria (factory, mock-up, shop, and site testing).
Recommend and support the development of mock-ups when they help reduce risk or improve execution readiness.
Apply operating experience (OE) to prevent repeat issues and develop mitigation strategies.
Serve as ASME Section XI Person-in-Charge (PIC) when needed for repair and replacement activities.
Field Oversight & Governance
Maintain strong working knowledge of mechanical codes, standards, best practices, and current industry trends.
Provide direct feedback to project managers on technical strategy, field execution, and potential risks.
Oversee field or shop activities when required, ensuring work follows the approved plan.
Act as the project lead on alternate shifts, potentially overseeing large crews (50+ people).
Project Support
Coordinate with internal teams and vendors to resolve technical or logistical roadblocks.
Participate in key planning and engineering meetings (e.g., design reviews, high-risk work reviews, project readiness meetings, schedule sessions, and risk management meetings).
Support development of strategies to reduce outage duration, improve schedule margin, and eliminate execution risks.
Required Education & Experience
Candidates must meet one of the following:
Master's degree + 10 years mechanical experience in nuclear, steam-cycle, or regulated industrial environments
Bachelor's degree + 12 years experience
Associate degree + 14 years experience
High school diploma/GED + 16 years experience
Required Technical Skills
Mechanical experience supporting commercial nuclear plant operations or outages
Experience in multiple refueling outages
Strong knowledge of work management systems (Asset Suite, SAP, etc.)
Ability to work with logic-driven schedules (Primavera, MS Project)
Knowledge of maintenance codes, regulatory requirements, and engineering processes
Understanding of human performance, error reduction, and cost-effective work practices
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Advanced computer proficiency
Preferred Skills & Experience
Experience working with feedwater heaters and internals
Experience with steam systems, ASME BPV-code components, piping, valves, and heat exchangers
Certifications in mechanical, construction, or project disciplines
Background in construction management
Hands-on experience in commercial nuclear production or operations
