KONG & AI Gateway Developer

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior KONG & AI Gateway Developer to lead enterprise API Management and AI Integration initiatives. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with KONG Gateway Enterprise, KONG AI Gateway, API Security, Microservices, and Generative AI/LLM integrations.

This role will be responsible for designing, developing, securing, and managing enterprise API platforms while integrating AI services such as OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google Gemini into enterprise applications.

Key Responsibilities

API Management & Architecture

·       Design, develop, and maintain enterprise API Management solutions using:

o   KONG Gateway Enterprise

o   KONG Konnect

o   KONG AI Gateway

·       Develop scalable, secure, and highly available API architectures.

·       Manage the complete API lifecycle, governance, and versioning strategies.

·       Implement enterprise API standards and best practices.

AI Gateway & LLM Integration

· Design and implement AI Gateway policies supporting:

o LLM Routing

o Token Management

o AI Security

o AI Governance

o Observability

· Integrate enterprise applications with Large Language Models (LLMs), including:

o OpenAI

o Azure OpenAI

o Anthropic

o Google Gemini

· Build secure and scalable Generative AI integrations.

API Security

· Implement enterprise API security standards including:

o OAuth 2.0

o OpenID Connect (OIDC)

o JWT

o Mutual TLS (mTLS)

o Rate Limiting

· Ensure secure authentication, authorization, traffic management, and API governance.

· Apply enterprise security best practices across API ecosystems.

Cloud & Platform Engineering

· Deploy and manage API Gateway solutions on cloud platforms including:

o Amazon Web Services (AWS)

o Microsoft Azure

o Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform)

· Develop cloud-native API solutions supporting enterprise-scale workloads.

· Optimize API performance, scalability, and reliability.

DevOps & Automation

· Implement CI/CD pipelines for API deployment and lifecycle management.

· Automate API deployments using modern DevOps practices.

· Work with source control and infrastructure automation tools.

· Support containerized deployments using Kubernetes and Docker.

Troubleshooting & Operations

· Monitor API performance and availability.

· Troubleshoot API security, scalability, and performance issues.

· Develop operational documentation, deployment guides, and runbooks.

· Collaborate with Architecture, Security, Infrastructure, and Development teams to deliver enterprise solutions.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor''''s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

· 7+ years of hands-on experience with KONG Gateway and KONG AI Gateway.

· Extensive experience designing enterprise API Management solutions.

· Hands-on experience with:

o KONG Gateway Enterprise

o KONG Konnect

o KONG AI Gateway

· Experience integrating enterprise applications with:

o OpenAI

o Azure OpenAI

o Anthropic

o Google Gemini

o Other Large Language Models (LLMs)

· Strong knowledge of:

o REST APIs

o Microservices

o API Lifecycle Management

o API Governance

· Experience implementing API security using OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, mTLS, and Rate Limiting.

· Strong scripting skills using:

o Python

o JavaScript

o Go

· Experience working with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
