Senior Unity / XR Software Engineer
Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Unity and XR Software Engineer to build advanced real-time 3D tools and immersive experiences for augmented and mixed reality. This role focuses on developing high-impact prototypes and production-quality systems that enable designers and product teams to rapidly create, test, and iterate on spatial user experiences directly within AR and VR environments. The ideal candidate is a strong C# engineer with deep Unity expertise, a passion for immersive technology, and experience building developer or designer-facing tools.
Key Responsibilities
Design and build cutting-edge real-time 3D and XR prototypes that inform product direction and future roadmap decisions.
Develop clean, maintainable, and well-architected C# code while debugging complex, multi-system issues.
Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, designers, researchers, QA, and other cross-functional partners to deliver end-to-end immersive experiences.
Make thoughtful architectural tradeoffs to balance speed, quality, and scalability in a fast-moving environment.
Build and maintain core software subsystems, APIs, and tooling within Unity to support rapid iteration and extensibility.
Provide feedback on APIs and platform capabilities to improve usability and performance for internal users.
Continuously learn new technologies and embrace ambiguity while solving novel mixed-reality challenges.
Required Qualifications
Strong professional experience with real-time 3D development using Unity.
Advanced programming skills in C#.
Hands-on experience developing AR/VR or immersive applications and games.
Strong understanding of software architecture, algorithm design, and computational complexity.
Ability to visualize and reason about 3D space and spatial interactions.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Portfolio demonstrating relevant Unity, XR, or real-time 3D work is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building tools, frameworks, or platforms for designers or other developers.
Real-time shader programming, graphics optimization, and VFX experience.
Rapid prototyping experience, especially in ambiguous or early-stage product environments.
Experience working with mixed reality hardware and system-level APIs.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $90.00/hr.
