Role Overview As a Cloud Engineer at our client, you will own the cloud infrastructure and platform systems that power client environments-from networking and security to backend systems and DevOps automation. You will work at the intersection of cloud architecture, platform engineering, and AI development, collaborating closely with forward-deployed engineers to design scalable, secure, and high-performance environments for sophisticated hedge fund clients.
The ideal candidate will work in a hybrid (NYC-based) setup. Full-time candidates are preferred.
Key Responsibilities Cloud & Infrastructure Architecture - Design, implement, and manage scalable, secure cloud infrastructure (primarily Azure)
- Leverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) (e.g., Terraform) for cross-cloud deployments
- Optimize cloud resources and enforce security best practices
Networking & Security - Architect and manage secure VPN solutions and client VPC connectivity
- Configure virtual networks, private endpoints, and DNS management
- Implement certificate-based authentication and encryption
Automation & DevOps - Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and containerized environments (Docker)
- Automate cloud operations with scripting (Bash, Python) and infrastructure testing
- Enhance monitoring, logging, and disaster recovery strategies
Client Onboarding & Environment Management - Provision and configure secure, isolated client environments (VPC, single-tenant architectures)
- Implement connectivity solutions (VPN, private links) for clients
- Automate and document environment setup processes
Backend Systems & Data Infrastructure - Design and optimize distributed systems with a focus on caching strategies, query optimization, and database selection for OLAP and OLTP workflows
- Develop and maintain scalable backend architectures and support front-end integration as needed
- Work with technologies such as Redis, MSSQL, and Azure SQL to support high-load financial data workloads
- Collaborate with the product team to ensure infrastructure decisions align with business strategy and client needs
Requirements - 3+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure or platform engineering, preferably with Azure
- Strong expertise in networking, VPNs, and secure cloud connectivity
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
- Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker) and CI/CD pipelines
- Strong scripting skills (Bash, Python) for automation
- Experience with monitoring, observability, and security best practices
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Professional experience with Python and at least one statically typed language (Java, C#, or Go)
- Solid understanding of database technologies and optimizing data for analytical and transactional systems
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications - Familiarity with OpenVPN, Redis, MSSQL, and identity management
- Experience with multi-tenant SaaS architecture and financial technology
- Exposure to analytics in financial services, hedge funds, or asset management
- AWS or Google Cloud Platform experience is a strong plus
- Strong quantitative or analytical mindset, especially related to financial data
