Description
Responsible for the operational management, reliability, security, and performance
of enterprise database systems supporting the institution's core administrative
services, including Human Resources, Finance, and Student Information Systems.
This role manages a team of database administrators and works collaboratively with
enterprise systems, application development, infrastructure, and functional business
units to ensure high availability, integrity, and security of institutional data, with a
strong emphasis on Oracle database environments and proactive multilayered
monitoring. The position also manages and optimizes mid-tier application
environments by ensuring efficient database connectivity, performance, security,
documentation, and integration with enterprise systems.

Manages the administration of enterprise database platforms and mid tier platforms,
including installation, configuration, tuning, upgrades, and patching, ensuring
performance, stability, availability, and compliance with institutional standards.
Oversees performance monitoring, capacity planning, and support for ERP systems
such as HR, Finance, and Student Information Systems.

Leads and contributes to the planning and execution of long-term database
strategy, including the modernization and optimization of enterprise data platforms
through the adoption of cloud and hybrid technologies, ensuring scalability, security,
and alignment with institutional digital transformation initiatives.

Supervises and leads the database administration team, assigning and prioritizing
work, monitoring performance, and ensuring timely and effective support of
enterprise systems and projects.

Manages large-scale database, mid tier, and platform implementations and
upgrades, including resource allocation, prioritization, and decision-making to
ensure successful, on-time delivery. Communicates project status, risks, and
outcomes to senior leadership, colleagues, and key stakeholders. Leads and
supports initiatives such as platform conversions, major upgrade cycles, cloud
integrations, enterprise tool development, monitoring solutions, system
implementations, integrations, disaster recovery enhancements, and ongoing patch
management.

Develops, implements, and maintains database backup, recovery, and disaster
recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity, business continuity, and compliance
with institutional policies and regulatory requirements; oversees database security,
including access controls, encryption, auditing, and support for data governance
initiatives.

Provides consulting, troubleshooting, and production support for database and midtier
services in support of enterprise systems, ensuring effective resolution of issues
and continuity of service for primary stakeholders. Responsible for a multilayered
approach to monitoring including an enterprise monitoring system from a well known
database vendor, targeted scripting approaches, log scanning, and applications
robot with an end user interface for fully automated client communication of system
status.

Establishes and maintains database standards, procedures, and documentation,
ensuring consistency and adherence to best practices across environments;
ensures integrity across development, test, and production systems, supporting
release management and change control processes.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
