We are seeking a skilled Field Engineer to support our In-Building Solutions (IBS) team. This role focuses on the maintenance, repair, commissioning, integration, testing, and troubleshooting of Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS).
Although a dedicated installation team handles most mounting, the Field Engineer must be capable of performing tasks such as terminating cables, racking and stacking, adding connectors, mounting equipment, and other hands-on integration work when needed.
This position is client-facing and requires strong communication skills and the ability to manage customer relationships professionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform commissioning, integration, optimization, and troubleshooting of DAS systems.
  • Conduct PIM testing, Sweep testing, and Spectrum Analysis.
  • Support public safety and cellular network deployments involving RF sources and equipment such as BDAs, BTS, small cells, amplifiers, coax, receivers, and related components.
  • Work with various frequency bands including 700 MHz, 800 MHz, VHF, and UHF.
  • Occasionally perform installation-related tasks (terminations, mounting, cable work, etc.).
  • Interface directly with clients and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain detailed documentation, test results, and project notes.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation as required.
  • Adhere to job-site safety standards and maintain a clean, organized workspace.

Top Skills

  1. 3+ years of experience commissioning, integrating, installing, and troubleshooting DAS systems.
  2. Experience supporting public safety and/or cellular RF environments (BDAs, BTS, small cells, etc.).
  3. Strong client-facing presence and initiative-driven work ethic.

Must Have:
  • PIM testing
  • Sweep testing
  • Spectrum analysis

Preferred:
  • Fiber/OTDR experience

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience on public safety or wireless DAS projects, including commissioning, integration, and optimization.
  • Intermediate expertise with in-building wireless systems and related troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency with field tools such as:
    • Spectrum analyzer
    • CW generator
    • Data collection scanners
    • OTDR
    • Handset/UE testing tools
    • Cable testers
  • Knowledge of mobile technology standards, antenna theory, propagation modeling, link budgets, and DAS design concepts (active and passive).
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to pass background checks, drug screening, and obtain security clearances if required.

Preferred Qualifications and Traits

  • Adherence to OSHA, CE, and customer-specific safety protocols.
  • Ability to maintain organized work areas and accurate tool/equipment inventory.
  • DAS OEM certifications are a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong communication skills with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented mindset.

Work Environment

  • Monday-Friday schedule, typically 7:00 AM-3:00 PM, depending on client needs.
  • Some work may occur during maintenance windows.
  • Participation in an on-call rotation (approximately one week per month). Calls are infrequent and compensated with additional pay.
  • Take-home vehicle provided; clean driving record required.
  • Primary coverage area is MD, DC, and VA (90%) with occasional travel to other states (approximately 10%).

Business Impact

Internal: Increased project volume and a growing installation team require additional field engineering support to meet demand and maintain operational efficiency.
External: Timely completion of DAS projects is critical to ensuring reliable public safety communications within dense and mission-critical environments.
