Summary

Position Description

NetSEA Technologies is seeking an Electrical Engineer with hands-on experience in the design, fabrication, and manufacture of experience with MIL-STD Electical Connectors to support our work for the Prototype Integration Facility (PIF) customer at Aberdeen Proving Ground, operated primarily through the U.S. Army C5ISR Center. The PIF delivers rapid prototyping, engineering, and manufacturing solutions - designing, testing, and building low-rate initial production (LRIP) models of emerging technologies to get quick-reaction capabilities into warfighters' hands. In this role, you will own connector design and quality from concept through low-rate production, working closely with fabrication (metal work and injection molding) to make sure what gets built matches what was designed - and holds up in the field.

Clearance Level
  • Secret

Location
  • Onsite - Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD

Work Schedule / Hours
  • Normal business hours, Monday - Friday

Travel Requirements
  • Up to 10%

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, fabrication, and qualification of MIL-STD/MIL-DTL electrical connectors from concept through LRIP
  • Translate emerging technology requirements and early-stage concepts into physical, testable connector prototypes
  • Provide engineering solutions for custom fabrication needs, including work involving armored steel plating and specialized cabling
  • Oversee and troubleshoot the metalworking and injection molding processes used to fabricate connector components
  • Partner with field organizations and testing centers to iteratively refine connector designs before full-rate production
  • Ensure components and assemblies meet applicable MIL-STD/MIL-DTL specifications, tolerances, and environmental/electrical/mechanical test requirements
  • Support command, control, and communication (C3) upgrade programs by accelerating connector design and delivery timelines
  • Review, generate, and maintain technical drawings, design packages, and quality/process documentation
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with quality, production, and program stakeholders - including government customer representatives - to keep prototypes and LRIP builds on schedule

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (or closely related field); equivalent hands-on experience considered
  • Active SECRET security clearance strongly preferred, or demonstrated eligibility and willingness to obtain one
  • Demonstrated experience owning the design and fabrication of electrical connectors, ideally MIL-STD/MIL-DTL products, from concept through production release
  • Working familiarity with the metal work and injection molding processes used to manufacture connectors - enough to make informed design-for-manufacturability decisions and troubleshoot process issues on the floor
  • Experience supporting or working within rapid prototyping or low-rate initial production environments, ideally in a defense, DoD, or government contracting setting
  • Comfort working directly with military specifications and standards (MIL-STD, MIL-DTL) and interpreting them into buildable designs
  • Experience with custom fabrication involving specialized materials (e.g., armored steel plating, ruggedized/specialized cabling) is a plus
