Overview

Our client is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to drive the evolution of their organizational safety culture and manage operational compliance. This position offers a unique opportunity to directly impact workplace safety, regulatory adherence, and risk management within a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing regulatory compliance, developing robust safety programs, conducting site audits, managing chemical and hazardous waste processes, and leveraging data analytics to continuously improve organizational safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Support strategies to cultivate the client's EHS mission, vision, and culture.
  • Ensure facility compliance with local, state, and national regulations.
  • Develop safety policies, procedures, and training to ensure clear understanding and implementation of EHS requirements by leaders and team members.
  • Enhance operational processes and policies including risk management, facility safety, incident management, injury reporting, and workers' compensation administration.
  • Conduct incident investigations and lead post-accident problem solving.
  • Maintain an EHS database to analyze safety data trends, keep accurate records, and drive informed decision-making.
  • Perform routine documentation, record keeping, hazard assessments, and comprehensive safety audits.
  • Manage chemical safety programs, including inventory management and new chemical approval processes.
  • Accurately characterize and classify waste streams per RCRA regulations.
  • Assist internal teams in managing Satellite Accumulation Areas (SAA).
  • Draft, review, and sign Uniform Hazardous Waste Manifests while maintaining precise waste management records.
  • Prepare and submit required environmental regulatory reports.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of increasing responsibilities in environmental, health, and safety programs within manufacturing or service operations.
  • Deep technical understanding of EPA RCRA regulations (40 CFR) regarding waste identification, generator status, and container management.
  • Working knowledge of DOT 49 CFR regarding the shipment of hazardous materials, including labeling, placarding, and packaging.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of local, regional, and national compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite and specialized EHS management software tools.
  • Experience creating, launching, and maintaining best-practice EHS programs in a fast-paced, quickly evolving environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to partner effectively across all organizational levels, from associates to Directors and VPs.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • BS/BA degree in a technical discipline related to Environmental Health and Safety.
  • Industry-recognized occupational health and safety certifications.
