RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Fremont, CA that isSoftware Development Engineer in Test (SDET) for a 6-12 month contract-to-hire opportunity that is fully onsite. Must work with PST hours.

Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated SDET to join a fast-paced engineering team focused on building high-quality software applications and supporting frequent production releases. This is a hands-on engineering role where coding, automation, and problem-solving are essential.

Responsibilities include:
* Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks
* Build automated tests for web applications, APIs, databases, and end-to-end business workflows
* Write production-quality code and automation solutions
* Develop reusable automation components and utilities
* Execute SQL queries for data validation, troubleshooting, and testing
* Perform root cause analysis and investigate software defects
* Work closely with developers throughout the software development lifecycle
* Support bi-weekly releases and production deployments
* Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices
* Independently own testing and automation efforts with minimal supervision

REQUIREMENTS:
* 5+ years of experience as an SDET, Automation Engineer, or Software Quality Engineer
* Strong programming skills in Python or another object-oriented programming language
* Strong SQL skills, including joins, data validation, and troubleshooting
* Experience building and maintaining automated test frameworks
* Experience with UI, API, and database automation
* Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), data structures, algorithms, and design patterns
* Experience debugging complex issues and performing root cause analysis
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
* Ability to write and explain code during technical interviews
* Ability to clearly articulate personal contributions to projects and technical decisions
* Experience working in fast-paced Agile environments with frequent releases
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications:
* Selenium or Playwright experience
* CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps
* Docker or Kubernetes experience
* Microservices or distributed systems testing
* Cloud-based testing environments
* Experience supporting frequent production releases

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
