The Lead MuleSoft Developer serves as the technical leader responsible for designing, developing, governing, and supporting enterprise integration solutions using the MuleSoft Anypoint Platform. This role owns the end-to-end integration architecture, API strategy, implementation standards, and delivery execution across cloud and on-premises applications.


The individual partners with business stakeholders, enterprise architects, product owners, platform teams, and development teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing integration solutions. The role provides technical leadership, establishes development standards, mentors developers, conducts code reviews, drives modernization initiatives, and ensures compliance with enterprise integration best practices. This description aligns with responsibilities identified in internal integration and leadership-focused developer roles.


Typical Day in the Role

- Lead the design and implementation of enterprise integration solutions using MuleSoft Anypoint Platform.


- Establish integration architecture standards, development guidelines, and coding best practices.


- Provide technical leadership for multiple concurrent integration projects.


- Conduct design reviews, code reviews, and architecture assessments.


- Mentor developers and provide technical coaching across integration teams.


- Participate in project estimation, planning, and roadmap development.


API & Integration Development


- Design, build, and support reusable APIs following API-led connectivity principles.


- Develop System APIs, Process APIs, and Experience APIs.


- Build integrations utilizing REST, SOAP, GraphQL, JMS, MQ, File, FTP/SFTP, Database, and SaaS connectors.


- Develop and maintain RAML/OpenAPI specifications.


- Implement orchestration patterns, event-driven integrations, and real-time processing workflows.


- Create reusable frameworks, templates, accelerators, and integration assets.


Platform Administration & Operations


- Support and administer MuleSoft CloudHub, Runtime Fabric, and Anypoint Platform components.


- Monitor platform performance, capacity, reliability, and operational health.


- Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents and integration failures.


- Define observability, logging, alerting, and monitoring standards.


- Participate in production support and on-call activities when required.


Security & Compliance


- Implement enterprise security standards including OAuth 2.0, JWT, Mutual TLS, SAML, and client credential flows.


- Ensure compliance with healthcare, privacy, and regulatory requirements where applicable.


- Enforce API governance, security policies, and data protection standards.


- Support architecture reviews and security assessments.


DevOps & Quality Engineering


- Establish CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or equivalent platforms.


- Implement automated testing strategies including MUnit.


- Maintain code quality metrics and governance through SonarQube and related tools.


- Drive deployment automation and release management best practices.


Required Skills:


Experience


- 8+ years of software development and integration experience.


- 5+ years of hands-on MuleSoft development experience.


- 3+ years of experience leading integration teams or enterprise integration initiatives.


- Proven experience delivering large-scale enterprise integration programs.


- Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.


Technical Skills


- Expert-level experience with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform.
