Cloud FinOps Architect

 

We are seeking an experienced Cloud FinOps Architect to lead cloud financial management architecture, governance, and cost optimization across AWS and Azure environments. The role requires strong expertise in cloud billing mechanisms, cost allocation, financial data engineering, SQL, Python, and automated cost governance. The ideal candidate will bridge cloud engineering, finance, and business teams to design scalable FinOps frameworks, optimize cloud consumption, and drive financial accountability. Google Cloud Platform experience is an added advantage. Mandatory Skills Cloud Expertise: Strong production experience with AWS and Azure cloud billing, pricing models, cost analysis, and optimization. FinOps Architecture: Experience designing enterprise FinOps frameworks, cost governance, tagging taxonomies, and showback/chargeback models. Billing Data: Production experience with at least one of AWS CUR 2.0, Azure Cost Management exports, or Google Cloud Platform Cloud Billing exports to BigQuery. SQL & Python: Strong SQL skills and practical Python scripting for billing data processing, ETL automation, reconciliation, and safe data reprocessing. Cost Data Standards: Knowledge of FOCUS, including billed cost, effective cost, list cost, and cloud account/subscription mapping. Cost Optimization: Expertise in AWS Savings Plans, Reserved Instances, Azure Reservations, resource right-sizing, and idle resource cleanup. Automation & IaC: Experience designing automated cost guardrails using Terraform or equivalent Infrastructure as Code tools. FinOps Tools: Hands-on experience with Cloud ability, Cloud-Health, Datadog Cost Management, or equivalent platforms. IAM & Security: Understanding of AWS IAM, Azure RBAC/service principals, and secure billing data access. Architectural Leadership: Ability to define technical standards, lead FinOps initiatives, and collaborate with Engineering, Finance, and Product teams. Key Responsibilities Define enterprise FinOps architecture, cloud financial governance, and cost optimization strategies across AWS and Azure. Design cost allocation frameworks, tagging standards, account/subscription mappings, and showback/chargeback models. Architect billing data ingestion, transformation, and reporting pipelines using AWS CUR 2.0, Azure Cost Management exports, or equivalent sources. Establish billing data reconciliation, reliable reloads, and accurate cloud cost reporting. Lead cost optimization initiatives covering right-sizing, idle resource cleanup, and cloud commitment purchasing strategies. Design automated cost controls, anomaly detection, budget alerts, and financial guardrails using Python, SQL, and Terraform. Partner with Finance/FP&A to drive forecasting, budget planning, variance analysis, and unit economics. Provide architectural guidance and technical leadership to improve cloud cost visibility, accountability, and operational efficiency. Good to Have Google Cloud Platform FinOps and committed use discounts. Snowflake usage and cost analytics.AI/GenAI cost tracking across Amazon Bedrock, OpenAI, Anthropic, or Vertex AI. Airflow, GitHub Actions, Power BI, or Tableau. FinOps Certified Practitioner, AWS Solutions Architect, or Azure architecture certification. Work Experience 10-15Years
